I'm not seeing the ingredients, could anyone let me know what the first few ingredients are. wondering if this is as good as new life spectrum.

I have 5 wide bodied goldfish - veil tailed and orandas in an outdoor pond. They are finicky little (6-7 inch) #**%#!#; who really call into question this entire goldfish are gluttonous eaters stereotypes. I have many food products as a result. Here are my answers. First 3 ingredients on my labels Hikari: Fish meal, wheatgerm meal and dried brewer's yeast. NLS: Krill, Squid, whole wheat flour. As you know: Any fish ingredient is there for protein unless it is to provide astaxanthin for color. Wheatgerm helps fish hold on to fat reserves. But Wheat flour does not really help the fish. It is mostly for us. It holds the ingredients together so it is easier for us to feed the fish. Who is better? In my opinion, they are both comparable and here is why. To me, NLS is not superior as wheat flour is *probably* the primary ingredient. See, it is not just the order of ingredients alone, but in the case of dry food, the first dry ingredient is the one with the most presence in the food. Pet food manufacturers use fresh weight to try and make their food look better than it is. That said, the ingredients that NLS do use *may* be cleaner or of higher quality given that they specify the exact type of fish they use. Hikari just says "fish meal". I use Hikari out of necessity as my fish will not eat NLS, Blue Ridge or any of the popular fishfood brands and then I start to worry about their health even though I know they are way too fat to starve any time soon. However I believe the absolute best thing you can feed your goldfish is Repashy. (which of course like all healthy, good for you food, my goldfish reject.) Hope that helps.

Does this bag cause goldfish to turn orange? I used the lionhead one and it turned my all black fish orange and same with my all white one.

Black is an unstable color in fancy goldfish. Many, if not most, fancies (excluding black moors) will turn from black to red/orange as they get older. It doesn't have anything to do with the food...just an evolutionary leftover from when they were carp & black juveniles were less likely to be eaten and bright red adults had an easier time finding mates.

How am I supposed to be snacking on these crackers?

I am going to assume this is a serious question and answer that this is food for fish, gold fish specifically. This is an excellent food for goldfish. It is a sinking food which is supposed to be best for their swim bladder. My goldfish seemed to really like this brand of food, they would go after it with gusto.

Are these food pellets really 3cms? that's over 1 inch in us. my fish are only 3 to 4 inches.

These pellets are much smaller than 3cms. I don't have a metric measure but would guess they are really more like 3mm. 3 to 4 inch goldfish would have no trouble eating them.

The product is good, my goldfishes loves it and no more bubbly excretions can be seen in the aquarium.They have became more active and when they want the food they goes mad for it splashing water and my oranda started spitting water out of the aquarium which seems great, also the food is a little hard to chew so it is a worthwhile watching them chew it and also you can hear the sound of food being crunched, my small catfish can't gulp it as he/she is very small but it looks great watching him/her play football with the food. I highly recommend the food but I got the green packet of saki hikari instead of purple, so make sure to first know what you getting. The green one is for growth and under 15 days I can literally feel that my fishes are growing, except one of them who was becoming skinny as he was extremely active, but now he is of average figure. Make sure that your filter would be able to handle it as their appetite will increase very soon leading to more waste, do water changes based on that and I am not sure yet, whether the food is being disintegrated or not as Hikari claims. Allevo oranda testa di leone e questo mangime è graditissimo, va subito a fondo evitando che i pesci ingeriscano aria e come se non bastasse risulta appetibile anche ai corydoras e alle mie piccole rane. Intorbidisce poco l'acqua, rende i colori vivaci ed è stato un'ottima scoperta!
