OK, but overpriced and took a PCIEX16 slot
Card works as described, personally I think it's overpriced, and what wasn't clear is that this card doesn't fit into a small PCIEX1 slot. On my board I only have 4 PCIEX1 slots and 2 PCIEX16 slots (for GPUs). Because the interface on this card is larger than a PCIEX1 slot I had to use my secondary PCIEX16 slot which means it is right up against the GPUs fans which I'm not really happy about.

Plugged it in, turned on power, smoke came out instantly. Very disappointed.

Quick delivery. After mounting the card, booting up the pc, then installing the drivers off the included cd, it worked instantly and perfectly. So when i need an expansion card i buy a Startech.

Bought this to run a four-sensor Oculus Rift setup. Was sick of messing around with motherboard USB slots, getting 2.0 connections even on 3.0 ports, etc. - and as I hoped, this card instantly solved all that. Now getting full-speed 3.0 performance from all four sensors with no inconsistencies or problems of any kind. Pricey, but worth it if you want the best. Definitely easier and more reliable than getting a cheaper expansion card and splitting your sensors between that and the motherboard ports. TIPS: - Works plug-n-play with Windows 10 native drivers. I've heard others say the manufacturer drivers make things worse not better, so I never tried. Stick with the natives. - Make sure you have a spare x4-speed PCIe slot on your motherboard, which is the full bandwidth this card uses. Note that this is not necessarily the same as a x4-SIZE slot - check your motherboard manual to find out what speed each slot offers and whether it steals bandwidth from other slots. My MB (like many) has a bunch of x4-sized slots that only run at x1 speed, which would bottleneck this card and defeat the purpose - I had to plug it into the third x16-size slot, which runs at x4 speed. MINOR ISSUES: - Plugging USB cables into the horizontal ports is a very tight fit through the opening for the expansion slot, at least in my case (Thermaltake X5). It's not a problem for me since my Oculus sensors are permanently connected to this card, but might not be great if you plan to use this for stuff that you are plugging and unplugging regularly. - The small heatsink on my card was attached very sloppily - visibly on a bit of an angle, not straight and flush with the card. Still makes full contact with the chip underneath so there's no functional issue at all, and I may have just gotten a one-in-a-million bad draw. Was slightly disappointing for such a high-end card, but not enough so that I'd bother returning it for a replacement.

This is a really excellent card. I replaced an Intel Gigabit CT Desktop Adapter card that only provided a single RJ-45 port with the StarTech because I needed powered USB 3.0 ports in order to get a new monitor with accompanying soundbar working. The card is powered using a SATA cable. It provides power to the card, which in turn powers the USB 3.0 ports up to 900mA per port. I connected my monitor to one of the USB 3.0 ports using an uplink cable in order to power all of the USB ports on the monitor. The soundbar is connected to one of the monitor's USB 3.0 ports. An HDMI connection from my video card to the monitor provides both audio and video. The soundbar is my default audio device, which works great with this setup. I also bought a 1 TB Western Digital USB 3.0 external drive that I connect to the StarTech card as well and it works great. Having both USB 3.0 ports that are fully powered along with an RJ-45 port for Ethernet all on one card is definitely convenient. My computer, a Dell Dimension E510, is running Windows 7 Home Premium so it didn't install drivers automatically via plug and play. I didn't bother with the drivers that came with the card. I instead downloaded the latest drivers from StarTech's web site. I installed the USB 3.0 driver first, then the Ethernet driver. As soon as the drivers were installed everything worked. No rebooting required. The only caveat is with the orientation of the USB 3.0 ports. When the card is installed, the USB ports are vertically oriented. So USB plugs don't fully insert into the ports because they bump into the metal frame surrounding the PCI card's bracket. Everything works fine. It's just something to be aware of. If the ports were oriented horizontally, this wouldn't be an issue, but then there probably wouldn't be room for three USB ports.
