The One Book on How to Sail!
If there is one book to buy on how to sail then this is it! Very well presented with excellent links to 'how to' videos!Having passed my dinghy (1 & 2) and Competent Crew courses without being able to tie any knots it enabled me to show my examiner that I could do them for the Day Skipper practical! As the author says, this book doesn't prepare you for the practical assessments but is much more useful because it prepares you for real life!Only one negative (stretching it a bit here); country and western music at the start of each video!! The price is high but the information far outweighs this (I have wasted lots of money on other books!)

A brilliantly illustrated practical guide to single and shorthanded sailing!
I cannot recommend this book more highly. I used this book as I got back into sailing and I also watched all of Duncans videos on the RYA yachtmaster course which I did online. Just brilliant how he simplifies points which the RYA seem determined to complicate! I don’t agree with the review saying this isn’t helpful to people sailing on their own. It’s full of tips of how to get on and off a moring without anybody else. It’s also got some great links to videos which brings it alive.I really recommend this book there are few people with as much experience in the UK is Duncan when it comes to practical tips on sailing! Full of common sense
This is a valuable book that I will always keep to hand. It's chock full of common sense, useful to anyone involved in boat handling.

Not specific to single/short handing at all
While the content in this book is great for beginners, it's very generic and not specific to short handed or single handed sailing at all. Was expecting to pickup some handy tips but as a newly qualified skipper, learnt nothing new, just best practices you learn from a decent instructor. The med mooring section is pretty much one paragraph with a few pictures..Got this as a birthday present but will be returning it.

Great tips to take the stress out of getting on the water
Great book and content, as a person who has been sailing for a few seasons, this book gives lots of tips I have found very useful to develop my skills and take some of the stress out of those tricky parts we all face when sailing.

Taught an old sailor new tricks
This was a gift to someone who has been sailing for decades. He says he learned a few new things he’d never seen before.

Not for Kindle
Good reference book that work well on the app on a tablet... but it is not Kindle friendly. That seems obvious to me now :)

Loved the first edition, this latest is a jewel too
Mr. Wells is a gentle and humble teacher—the topic of singlehanded sailing for coastal cruising gets short press, and this book and the accompanying educational videos seriously reduce the stresses and anxieties of singlehanded cruising significantly. I’ve shown some of my ASA instructors some of these techniques and they have been impressed and thankful. Hats off to this fine English sailing instructor
