Wasn't disappointed just beautiful
The story of Phoebe Parsons in Manchester in the year 1842 find herself jobless and homeless after her employee has taking her last breathe, a chance meeting in a eating house with Victor Hayes a dismissed policeman changes her life for the better well only in some ways as you read the story.Throughout this book is a truly enchanting, inspirational story that will grip readers.Like her other work the author has a way of her drawing in the readers so they feel part of sharing all the worries and woes and there is plenty in this book, and I could not put it down.I enjoyed especially how my emotions change as I start all the chapters that to me is a good sign and this author did this to me and pushed all my buttons, looking forward to more of this authors work to come.just beautiful

Sorry but it is so boring I didn't even finish reading it.
I do not know what possessed Emma to write in this style.I was very disappointed and irritated. It appears that she decided to do some historical research and got carried away. By page 57 I had enough. It is slow, slow, slow there is absolutely nothing to lure the reader in.This is the first time I have never left a book unread.I have respect for the author for other literary works but it seems she herself had no interest in writing this particular book.

Disappointing.
I hate giving bad reviews, but unfortunately in this case I have to. Up to now I’ve loved Emma’s books, so I really anticipated this one and was willing to spend £9.99 on the e-book unfortunately.I found it really hard going and couldn’t connect at all to Phoebe or Victor, I persevered and read half the book but gave up then.It won’t put me off reading any more of Emma’s books but I’ll wait till there are many reviews before deciding whether to spend so much money on an e-book.

SLOWER BURNER
I was bored reading the first quarter of this book, I carried on with it because I just hate having to give up on a book part way through, glad I did because it did get a bit better as the story unfolded. Not the best read by this author, I have her other books, but think I will not follow this author anymore.

Gripping story
This book is great reading, so much to keep you interested, what a hard life they all lived even the end could not be justified because they have committed a crime how could they live happily especially with him being an ex policeman but I loved the book well done
