Stress-Free Motorboating: Single and Short-Handed Techniques

Well illustrated and simply explained
A great summation of the skills required to drive boats, berthing & mooring, the most traumatic of manoeuvres.I bought it as an addition to my library of sailing and powerboat books. As a freelance instructor I teach using a particular method laid down in my country and very effective it is too. Our national body has many books on the subject and they are very informative and form part of the national syllabus. This book builds and enhances those techniques. Perhaps because it doesn’t have to adhere to a set national structure it can be as flexible as it is. I’ve read it cover to cover and was most impressed by the “rustlers hitch”. One to use when single handed on any vessel up to about 10 metres. If you’re one of the many new to boating this year, and I’ve taught more this year than 2018 & 2019 put together, I can’t recommend this enough. Easy to understand and maps out the reasons why a boat does what it does. For me it’s a great reference book and can illuminate the subject with ease. And for those of you flicking idly through, remember: a boat doesn’t have a foot brake or hand brake. It’s blown sideways in the merest hint of a breeze. And finally the water, unlike the roads we drive on, is invariably flowing from one place to another and carrying the unsuspecting boater with it.If you take up boating, please please please take some instruction - you will thank me for it later. This book is a great step on your journey.
