Sensor seems to accurately detect soil moisture level, but i had hoped the Gardena app could "average" values from multiple sensors in different parts of the garden (some with more light etc than others) The current version of the Gardena watering smart app only permits a single sensor per watering zone

Stops unnecessary watering when used with the Gardena Smart watering system. Batteries last nearly a year and the integration with the app is very good. As expected, a great product from Gardena.

Sensor does exactly what it needs to do but it is very expensive. Tied into the Gardena system so no other option unless I go down the more complex home hub automations.

Can't comment on how well it works bout it is only compatible with the gardena computer system so cannot integrate into a smart home

The device looks and works great but disappointed with the Gardena smart up and options provided are severely limited. There could be much better integration options for this device I.e linking actions/events to other Gardena systems (such as robot lawnmowers or smart irrigation systems)

Badly explained in the advert, but from the text it sounds like the gateway is some kind of app you sign up for. Instead it’s an expensive physical box. This product will not work without it. Returned.

Ich bin total begeistert von dem **Gardena Smart Sensor** – er macht Gießen endlich clever! Schon beim Einstecken im Beet merkt man, wie durchdacht das System ist. Die Einrichtung in der App war selbsterklärend, anschließend konnte ich in Echtzeit sehen, wie feucht der Boden ist, wie viel Licht die Pflanzen bekommen und wie kühl es nachts wird. Mein Gemüsebeet wird jetzt bedarfsgerecht bewässert – selbst bei wechselhaftem Wetter bleibt alles optimal versorgt. Auf den Punkt gebracht: Der Sensor erkennt Trockenheit, reguliert die Bewässerung und spart dadurch richtig viel Wasser – praktisch und umweltfreundlich zugleich. Auch die Konstruktion überzeugt: Der Sensor ist robust, wetterfest und bleibt flach genug, damit der Rasenmäher problemlos drüber fährt. Einmal installiert – und seitdem läuft alles automatisch. Nie wieder Rätselraten vor dem Gießen! --- **Fazit:** Der Gardena Smart Sensor ist ein echter Gewinn für alle Gartenliebhaber, die Technik und Natur verbinden möchten. Un sensore veramente molto comodo, un po' alla volta ne ho acquistati 6 piazzati in vari vasi per monitorare l'umidità in diverse zone di terrazzo e balconi. Utilizza due pile stilo (che durano veramente tanto, dopo quasi un anno ancora non ne ho sostituita nessuna), si infila completamente nel terreno in modo da non sporgere quasi per nulla, cosa che permette in caso di utilizzo in un prato di utilizzare senza problemi tagliaerba. La cosa importante da segnalare è che non è wifi ma comunica con il gateway gardena via radio su un protocollo proprietario, cosa che comporta: * il fatto che dovete avere l'hub :) non pensate che possa funzionare da solo * le batterie durano tantissimo * ha una portata eccezionale: in una casa di 2 piani molto grande ho un solo hub che raggiunge tutti i dispositivi gardena anche lontani/schermati senza problemi Io ho accoppiato questi sensori a diversi altri componenti gardena, una centralina per controllare le elettrovalvole e gli "smart water control" da collegare direttamente al rubinetto per dei vasi sui balconi. La cosa su cui si distingue l'ecosistema gardena secondo me è però il software, che è FAVOLOSO. Finalmente qualcuno che riesce a fare un'app fatta bene, utilizzabile sia da smartphone che da web. Con l'app è possibile monitorare e programmare le irrigazioni ma non solo: è possibile associare questi sensori agli irrigatori in modo da evitare le irrigazioni quando il terreno è già troppo umile, e addirittura associare i sensori al tipo di piante (fino a 5 piante per sensori) in modo che l'app segnali se l'umidità del terreno è adatta a quelle piante o se serve innaffiare di più o di meno. Se non sapete il nome delle piante l'app ha addirittura il riconoscimento delle piante dalle foto, cosa che trovate solo su altre app a pagamento (e qui invece il software è totalmente gratuito senza bisogno di abbonamenti). Aggiungo anche la possibilità di variare l'irrigazione in base al meteo, la facilità con cui si aggiungono e configurano i device e si gestisce anche un eventuale aggiornamento firmware. Bravi, finalmente qualcuno che mette tutta l'attenzione che serve anche su questo aspetto, troppo spesso si trovano prodotti in se belli ma con software di gestione osceni che sembrano sviluppati da un ragazzino o che sembrano avere vent'anni... Un paio di note utili se dovete installare un nuovo ecosistema gardena: se dovete comprare anche l'hub vi conviene comprare i kit con hub-centralina-sensore che sono un po' più convenienti di acquistare i vari pezzi separatamente. E poi altro consiglio importante per cui mi dovrete ringraziare 🤫 evidentemente c'è un sacco di gente che compra questi prodotti senza leggere accuratamente le descrizioni ed accorgersi che serve acquistare anche l'hub per farli funzionare, cosa che fa si che ci siano spessissimo prodotti "usati" da amazon warehouse a una frazione del prezzo perchè tanti li comprano, scoprono che serve l'hub e li restituiscono ancora intonsi... in totale ho comprato così una decina di pezzi a prezzi stracciati senza mai una delusione

Not sure why Amazon sells this to Australia? Gardena app can be downloaded yet does not allow adding the smart sensor. Thus - useless. Shame, as the idea is great!
