You need smartphones to control the cars
Ditch the spark plug dongles and plug in some traditional Scalextric controllers that you will need to purchase as an extra. (£15 a pair off the bay). As the whole spark plug controlling/racing off your smartphone sucks!

Disappointment
App would not connect, purchased the controller, still did not work.

Avoid this crap, buy a regular Analog kit.
-The Formula-E (e for electric) app has only gas engine sounds???-The app is the most annoying thing ever with super loud generic music.-Where are the settings? took me 10 minutes to find them.-Never manage to connect the app with the dongles.-The instruction do not work.-This is the worst app on the iOS store, it should have been banned by the Apple store for lame quality.-Controlling with a touch screen mean that you will have to run slowly because of the lack of precision.-After 1 hour of trying to connect my latest iPhone with the Scalextric Formula-E app with the cars without any progress, I simply abandoned the idea.-Cars and track are fantastic and work pefectly with the analog controller from another kit.

Rather cheep looking and flimsy
We didn’t like this product, flimsy and not very well made. Way overpriced for what it is!

Absolutely impossible to set up without a degree in tech 'know how'.
Bought this as a Christmas present but still unable to assemble despite scrutiny of 'so called' instructions.

Shockingly bad and cannot pair two phones at the same time
First off, spend hours trying to connect 2 phones, tried several phones and only 1 phone ever connects. Next, when you do get your phone to connect (only one remember), the car gets caught on corners which you constantly have to bend open to make sure there is a big enough gap for the guide pin to pass through. If you are lucky enough to connect a phone (only one at a time though!), and should the gap in the corner rails stay apart long enough for a few laps, if the car falls off the rail, it's game over and the car won't run again unless you disconnect power, close the app and start from scratch. Shocking. Scalectrix is supposed to cause arguments because you keep leaving your 6 year old son in the dust, not because you spend hours of your life trying to connect a phone to a dongle.
