Cottage Creations W03 Wonderful Wallaby Pattern

During my weekly knitting group gather, I saw this sweater being knitted for a 3-year old boy. Since I have a 3-year old and 1-year old grandson, I felt this would be a good sweater to knit them as a Christmas present. I immediately went online while at my group, and purchased the pattern. I love the way this pattern is written, the story behind it, and how it includes instructions for many sizes. From reading through the instructions, they appear to be very clear and I do not anticipate running into any issues once i begin knitting the project. This was a great purchase, and I can't wait to purchase the yarn and start making these adorable sweaters.

I expected a 2 page pattern not a booklet very disappointed

I have made two of these sweaters and so love the way it goes together. I have gotten many compliments on how nice it looks. This is very different from any pattern I have ever used. I am sure I will make more.

The sweater pattern knit up to a beautiful sweater. The author of the book hid the pattern in a wordy, over- cute jargon which included nothing but cutesy drawings of the sweater being knit by a wallaby. On the drawings, the ones of how to do the front pouch were helpful, however a real picture of a finished sweater would have been helpful. I had to highlight through the book the pattern portions of the writing to avoid missing instructions.

This was bought as a replacement for a lost copy - clearly enough I love it enough to buy it again. Only downside for me is what seems to be a lot of extraneous verbiage - but it makes up for that by being a pattern that is easy to knit and can be done in sizes from toddler to XX large - I've probably made a dozen or so of them.

I really enjoyed knitting the wallaby. It's very well thought out and easy to follow pattern - and the little illustrations throughout are adorable! I followed a suggestion online to knit one size up and add an inch to the suggested sleeve and body lengths, and was very pleased with the fit. I also used an accent color to stripe the sleeves and for the trim on the pocket and hood - there's really a lot of room for creativity. This would be a great first sweater pattern.

The final product was great. The instructions require extreme perseverance. Wish it had been a "normal knitting pattern". The first one I made in stripes with contrasting cuffs and hood edge but the second one will be a solid body with contrasting edges.

I have made many, many of these Wallaby sweaters. If you like to knit in the round and love the no-fuss of no seams to sew at the end, this is a fantastic sweater pattern. It's a classic, and it deserves the huge following it has. Have fun knitting it--these will become the favorite sweater for whoever is the recipient. You can also make is sans hood. Please note that there is NO DRAWSTRING to choke little ones.
