do you have to use the app to turn them on and off? or can i use a switch that i can hard wire them to so they will go on and off when toggled

You probably could hard wire them but you want be able to control the settings such as change the colors set it to flash with the beat of music or set the speed the app is pretty much the brain

Do the lights drain the battery if you leave them on all night?

I have never left the lights on all night, but if your UTV / vehicle is running you would be fine. If it's not running I would say there is a very good chance your battery would be dead by the morning.
