Works, Simple, Fast, And Easy
Works without a fuss right out of the box. Used it to connect computer and printer via single Ethernet connection to network. If you are in a location with 1 Ethernet connection to you network but have multiple devices located there then this switch will allow you to add 4 devices to you network in a very simple and reliable wired connection. Many devices have WiFi but the most reliable and fast connection is almost always wired and this Gigabit, 1000 Mbit/s or 125 MB/s, that's about 8 seconds to copy 1GB of data, great for 4K video streaming and copying large files. Great product at great price. Buy it and don't use wireless.

Interferes with VHF
This switch has now worked well for 5 years. However, I recently discovered that it emits interference that eliminates the possibility of receiving any over the air VHF television channels on my Tablo, especially channel 8, even if the switch is many feet away in a different part of the house. If you are using it in a home entertainment setup that includes a tv tuner attempting to receive a VHF station you might want to try removing it to see if reception improves. It doesn't seem to have any bad effect on UHF stations.

Quiet, fast, and efficient.
I've picked up several of these to use around the house. I was originally using a couple commercial Cisco Gig-E switches, but the fan noise and power draw had me rethink the setup. These are silent, don't get hot, don't use much power, and I've seen no speed decrease over the Cisco's. I'm very happy with the purchase.

My home network runs with 3 consoles, 2 computers ...
My home network runs with 3 consoles, 2 computers and a wifi router. One of the desktops is connected via a 50' ethernet cable. During the last Spring Cleaning we moved the entire living room around and the 50' cable now had a to bridge a 10' gap. The easiest way to accomplish connecting everything was to get an extender but I opted for a switch. This particular switch was on sale when I purchased it. Literally plugged it into the outlet, plugged the 50'-er in and another ethernet cable from the original switch. Powered everything off and then rebooted and everything connected as if nothing was removed. Literally have not touch the switch in almost a month since installation and everything is working as expected.

IT Pro thumbs up!
I'm the sole IT person for a company with 5 locations over 2 states, time is a luxury I don't have. An employee at our furthest office got an additional device needing an ethernet hook up, but there were no additional drops nearby. Enter this switch. I didn't want to spend much if he wasn't going to use the device often and really didn't want to (or have time to) travel 180 miles to plug in a few cables. I had this shipped directly to him and it arrived the next day. He was able to unbox it and plug everything in with zero direction from me. He only reached out to let me know his new printer was up and running and so was his computer. Thanks TRENDnet! Another great device with easy setup, which saved me hours of travel time, and got my folks up and running quickly!

Works great for Network Expansion, no expertise needed.
This simple switch works great for wired network expansion. I use this (I own two of these) with my Comcast service to add wired Ethernet ports for my home office area, and one additional part of the house. The dimensions of the switch are approximately 1.25" x 2.75" x 4.75" so it easily fits in tight spaces. The "wall-wart" is small though not quite as compact as some I have seen (it is rated to use 1A DC), with approximate dimensions of 1" x 1.5" x 2.5". Though cat5e cable is listed as required for full gigabit speeds, I find that in actual usage, this switch will negotiate a gigabit connection over some of my shorter cat5 cable runs as well. Gigabit operation is noted on the display by an additional green light for each port, which illuminates at the higher speed. There is a metal version of this same kind of switch from TRENDnet which is substantially larger. I prefer the small form factor of this switch, even though the housing is plastic. The switch is very well packaged, and though instructions are minimal, installation is essentially self-explanatory, requiring little to no technical knowledge.

This switch is great for something very affordable
This switch is great for something very affordable! As a teleworker, if im not traveling I get to work from home. I needed a way to connect my work laptop to my home network in my office because my wifi speeed/range just wasnt cutting it. My desktop gets 120Mbps download speeds and wifi only gets 50mbps and is choppy. Since I was using my work laptop around the same area as my desktop i figured id get a switch to speed up productivity. I decided to order this as it was cheap and reviews were overall positive. I was concerned that speeds would drop when connecting my work laptop and desktop as a few reviews stated to expect a 20% speed decrease. Well after connecting my 2 computers, I ran a speed test on both of them and i was still getting the exact same speed of 120Mbps each computer so there wasnt any speed drops! Great affordable switch! Also loved that it was a durable but light plastic frame so i was able to attach it under my table using double sided tape for a more stealth look. GREAT!

small compact size and great price. this is just an ordinary switch that ...
3 STARS is average. at least in my book. i give this an extra star because it is so small and compact. Trendnet is not what i consider to be top of the line (i.e. cisco, hp switches, meraki or even netgear), but the price of these are ridiculously low by comparison. so, you get a name brand that is known to some extent, small compact size and great price.this is just an ordinary switch that is used for home-based networking. it does not provide any management features. because of it's compact size, i ordered another one to use in another location of my home.

Great value, compact Gigabit Switch
I bought this switch to replace an old 'unbranded' one that decided to give up the ghost after several years of trusty service. Having already got the slightly more expensive TEG-50g switch elsewhere on the network, I hoped this 'plastic housing' version would be equally reliable/well made. Whilst it's only just come out of the box and connected to my network, all seems to be up and running seamlessly. I'm using the switch to connect 4 of my media devices to my home network. Simple as plugging one patch cable into the router, the other end into one of the ports on the switch, and connecting the media devices to the switch too. Some reviews have mentioned it's not wireless... It's not meant to be! Nor is it a DHCP Server (it doesn't assign IP addresses - your network router or dedicated DHCP server will do this). This is a straightforward gigabit switch which extends the number of Ethernet ports available on your network, for use with Cat 5, 5e, 6 etc patch cables. For what it does, it does well. Just plug it in and away you go!

Solid performance, compact, stylish, and gigabit link indication LEDs
Compact, stylish, and performs well. One feature I was particularly looking for is the lights to indicate which ports negotiated at gigabit link speeds - it's nice to see at a glance if the link is actually operating at full speed or not.It now lives on the unit in the lounge divvying up an incoming gigabit link between my Amazon Fire box, Sony "smart" BluRay player with network streaming features, and Virgin Tivo box. None of those actually have gigabit ethernet support, but the fact the switch does gives me the confidence that each device could make full use of its 100Mbps port and the switch will still have plenty of capacity left over.

Surpassingly powerful, lightweight economical little box
I bought this product for 2 reasons, it supported gigabit connections and it was cheap, very cheap. I was expecting to see some compromises with this product but so far I have found none, I paid around £9 with free delivery for this powerful little switch. I've tested it and it does surprisingly stand up to the rated speeds, all devices that supported gigabit speeds connected at 1Gbps first time connecting them. Seems to use an amount of power so small you can completely forget it's on, sobbing around the area of 3 Watts total I believe. Another thing that surprised me about this product is that it is very small, it looks much bigger in the photo and compared to a old Sky Router, this is absolutely tiny. Overall it's compact, cheap, power efficient and lives up to the rated standards. I would see no reason to buy a more expensive unmanaged gigabit 5 port switch.

Small, lean and Reliable ... Win!
I really like this switch. It is really small and it fitted in a corner and forgotten about. The switch is very lean in power requirements, in fact it is lean enough that I bought a seperate USB lead and now power it from a USB port on once of the PC's.So I get excellent speeds and use only a tiny bit of power all in a small reliable package, yep that works for me!

Great little switch.
I was using a spare router and as I now needed to use it upstairs to boost our wifi network, required an unmanged switch for to extend the wired network downstairs. After reading reviews and technical info on lots of switches went for this one, and glad I did. Plugged it in and it works a treat. Plus its small so can be tucked away.
