Model Engine-Making: In Theory and Practice

I found this a very informative, and instructive manual in the hobby, as practiced at the turn of the 20th century. It builds a great foundation on which to learn the technology of the steam engine. It is very basic in its approach, and it is some what hard to follow sometimes for those not familiar with the writing style, or terminology of that earlier period. Very much worth the effort as well as a lot of fun to read.

Not the greatest project book..... But I enjoyed it.... Saw a couple ideas here that made me think

I had hoped to fine complete sets of prints; not in this book. Loads of infornation, interesting reading.Would help if you had some experience in steam models.

Very informative book for the steam enthusiast. Nice to add it to my personal steam library. Now I just need a boat.

Good to read but most of the projects were made from castings that are no longer available. But the projects could be made from bar stock. Still a nice book for someone into model making.

Este libro es una reimpresión de un libro bastante antiguo, la descripción de métodos de fabricación y herramientas se acerca a lo arqueológico. Es una lectura interesante e ilustrativa para quien tiene en mente la construcción de modelos de máquinas de vapor. Hay otros libros mucho más modernos que sí describen el estado actual de la técnica en la ingeniería mecánica a pequeña escala. El precio está bien así que es buen trato.

イギリスでは1888年に既にこのような模型蒸気機関の作り方の本が刊行されていました。さすが産業革命を成し遂げた国です。当時は模型は実物の仕組みを理解するために作られていたようです。
