Solid floating pole for the GoPro!
I am so impressed with this floating pole extender! I attached my GoPro with the floating section attached and it floated about 4-5 inches out of the water! I put strap on both sections to help with not losing the pole and visibility if it slipped out of my hands and went floating! The locking mechanism is great and solid! I used this in salt water several times already. It cleans up easily with a fresh water rinse. Disconnect the floating section to let the upper section drain out. It’s so lightweight but strong! Since the floating section unscrews, it’s easy to stow this in a backpack. I highly recommend this pole for anyone with a GoPro!

Super nice!!
I am going to be using this to take fish release videos from my kayak, so it's important that it float as I film the fish release over the edge of the kayak. Also the carbon fiber construction is top notch and super light.

Good stick, one problem
I really like this stick. I recently took it on vacation, where I used the floaty part on a salt-water snorkel, and I used the other part as a regular selfie stick. I also put both parts together and tested it in a swimming pool, and it successfully floated my Hero 5 Black. As someone else noted, it doesn't have a bright end, so I put some yellow tape on the end, and that made it more visible. The stick is comfortable, very easy to extend and contract, and I was able to deploy it quickly. (BTW, the locking knobs loosen counterclockwise and tighten clockwise, which felt normal to me. I mention that because another reviewer had a different experience.) The two sections screw together securely giving quite a long reach, but also come apart without argument. The leash is proportional to the stick in length and strength. The stick is small and light enough to fit easily in a small backpack. Although light, it feels sturdy and well-made. I kind of wish I'd gotten the one that came with the little tripod, but I didn't. Oh well.So why not 5 stars? I have one complaint with this stick, and it's something that took me by surprise. It's noisy! Every slight change of hand position on the stick conducted sound to the camera. This effect was worst when the two sections were screwed together. If my hand was steady on the foam grip, it was good, but I apparently changed my hand grip a lot, so I got a lot of bad noise interference in my audio. Maybe this is a problem inherent with carbon fiber. I don't know. I might try taking the unit apart and inserting something inside to baffle the sound.Smatree makes nice products for the price, and in spite of my audio difficulties, I still really like this product. I just need to be more zen while I'm shooting video. :-)

Superior product backed by true professionals.
This is a remarkable product, well made, professionally designed and packaged, plus it's supported by folks who are the epitome of professional: responsive, kind, generous, trusting, thoughtful, and, above all, trustworthy. This product works perfectly. Some folks complained about the wrist lanyard coming unscrewed and a couple other things that could've been easily avoided by using a modicum of common sense. No design can overcome carelessness and lack of forethought.I have other Smatree products and they are all top of the line in design and quality plus they are priced to provide an unbelievable value. It's so rare to find companies like this anymore.I strongly recommend you support them by trying out their products -- you won't be disappointed. And this is not a paid review. I'm a tough customer to satisfy; these folks easily exceeded my expectations.I've added an image of my rig. I learned about redundancy scuba diving -- always attach gear to prevent the pain of watching it sink into the abyss. Since it floats bottom up, for visibility you'll notice yellow gaffers tape Professional Premium Grade Gaffer Tape by Gaffer Power, Made in the USA, YELLOW 2 Inch X 30 Yards, Heavy Duty Gaffer's Tape, Leaves No residue, Better Than Duct Tape and reflective yellow 3M tape 3M 3431 Yellow Reflective Tape, 0.5" width x 5yd length (1 roll) on the bottom. For additional visibility and flotation, plus a second (redundant) layer of security, note the floating yellow wrist strap SmaAcc Waterproof Floating Camera Strap(3-pack) for Gopro and Underwater Cameras, Phones, keys . A stainless steel lanyard Smatree 33 inches Stainless Steel Tether Lanyard for GoPro Hero 5/4/3+/3/2/1/Session (3PCS) provides a third(redundant) layer of security between the camera and the wrist strap, not the pole lanyard.I'd lose the camera only if multiple points of security failed simultaneously. And if that happens, I'm sure there'll be other much more important matters to attend to.Finally, to avoid any noise transmitting to the camera, I use Velcro cord wraps or removable cable ties to snug stuff up to the pole. And if I plan to collapse/extend the pole during recording, I just wrap stuff up in my hand to snug it up.

Versatile and sturdy
I’ve taken the selfie stick to a Hawaii trip and multiple hikes near home. I love how it’s lightweight, yet sturdy. After taking it in salt water, I just rinse it in fresh water and let it dry. The floatable grip is comfortable and a great attachment that I leave off on hikes.2 things I didn’t expect— I thought the GoPro kept swiveling even after I tightened the screw, but turns out I was suppose to insert the screw the other side. Now the GoPro is secure and doesn’t move.I lost the wrist attachment for the floating grip when I was on a boat. Not sure if it loosened from the movement and then slipped, but it would be nice to buy a replacement.Overall, great and affordable buy I recommend to others who want to keep their $900 GoPro in good hands.

Works well will update
Floats as it should. Keep in mind it will float vertical with the camera upside down. It’s a great back up incase the leash breaks but it may be wise to put home high vis stickers on an attachment on the floating section to find easier in the water. Will report back if the components rust in salt water but so far so good with 5 sessions on it. Using with my GoPro max
