Powerful! Still strong a year later.
I did a LOT of research before buying this about a year ago. I wanted something strong and powerful, with the sturdy, old-fashioned wide bars on the beaters (not those flimsy wire ones). I use mine most often to make cookie dough, and I use it at least twice a month for that (and sometimes as much as twice a week, for multiple batches). This has NO PROBLEM quickly creaming the butter/sugar, and even after adding the flour and chocolate chips it mixes just fine. It bucks a little, but not bad at all.If it were a boxer it would be in the Heavyweight class, not light or bantam. It packs a punch because it has a big motor. However, the way the handle connects you can hold it from the back instead of arching your wrist over the top, so the weight is easier to hold than my older, lighter mixer. If you're doing something thin, use a deep bowl because it WILL splatter everywhere, just because it's super powerful. It does whipped cream with the whisk attachment beeYOOtifully and quicker than you'd think possible if you've been using a cheapy crummy mixer. I've used it to make buttercream/cream cheese icing with superlative results. The only problem I've had is with doing egg whites, but then I discovered I shouldn't try to make pavlova when it's rainy because the eggs won't ever stiffen, so that's not the mixer's fault! It wipes clean easily, and I like that the storage is incorporated though it took a while to get used to.All in all I am VERY pleased with this mixer. I waited a long time to leave a review, since I am using it pretty hard and wanted to make sure it lasted long enough to be worth it. I make cookies a lot, partially because I love cookies (and hubby does too) but also because with a good hand mixer it's ridiculously easy and faster than running to the store to pick up something to take to a dinner or friend's house. This is a GREAT mixer-- but don't sue me if you end up using it so much you get type II diabetes. :-)

A powerful little mixer.
This hand mixer is a bit on the pricey side, but well worth it. Power to beat the band. Even when mixing small or medium size dough batches on any speed, this unit won't bog down like most other mixers do. Also reasonably quiet running. I'm rather quite satisfied with this mixer. I highly recommend it. Don't waste your time or money on the "cheapy" ones.

Very Powerful! (Original Review 12/2021, Update 11/2024)
Update 11/24: I love this mixer & it is holding up great! I have used it almost weekly for three years to make quadruple batches of cookies.Original Review 12/202 I have a home-based baking business, and I often do double, triple or even quadruple batches of cookies. I wasn't sure a stand mixer would accommodate that volume, and I wasn't quite ready to shell out the $$ for a stand mixer anyway, so I went with this hand mixer. I figured with comments like, "It's almost TOO powerful" and "I wish it had a lower speed," it might meet my needs. I am not a person to take a mixer out for small jobs, anyway. This mixer has not disappointed! For larger volume projects, I am very pleased with its strength & capacity to mix stiff cookie dough. Highly recommend if that's what you're looking for!
