This sharpener is great for the price. I don't think the single grinder would be ideal for art pencils, but for writing pencils it's fantastic. The mounting suction cup is pretty strong for desktop use. It would certainly hold on a smooth, non - porous wall surface as well, but would not do so indefinitely. For that application the included hard mount bracket and screws are a must, as a fall from the wall onto a very hard surface would likely crack the waste catcher. *** I’ve come back to possibly buy another for home use as this one was for work. Reading some of the reviews makes me weep for the species. 1. There is nothing complicated enough here to require instructions 2. If you allow the pencil to rotate a bit while sharpening, the wood will be removed evenly. 3. No suction cup holds on rough, broken, or porous surfaces. Physics has rules. Disobey them at your own peril. 4. The suction lever can be tough to pull back up. A. Don’t push it all the way to the mounting surface... leave a few mils room to get under it OR B. Use the eraser end of your pencil, start at the pivot point, slide it toward the rubber capped end of the lever. Et voila! The principle of a driven wedge! Physics strikes again! 5. It’s 8 bucks... it’s not priced as a main battle tank, don’t expect it to take shots like one. Try a little finesse, there, Kong!
