Why is it a Chinese Chef's cleaver and yet the label on the knife said not to use as a cleaver. I had many cleavers, they should chop bones.

Why is this not made in china? the one time i need the product to be made in china, it says its made in the us

This Dexter S5198 looks different froms the one I see on their website. Is it the same one I could purchase from them directly?

there are several different s5198's there is a letter suffix that modifies it to determine what the handle composition is. There are also other models, such as the conneseuer line and several others that have different model numbers (such as the 5197 which is almost like a Japanese usaba).Dexter does not make these themselves, but markets and warrants them. There have been minor variations over the decades they have sold this as they move from mfgr to mfgr and as they themselves have modified their product slightly But 5198 is their most popular and most famous. Owned by many of the best chefs in the world including Julia and Jacquesremember, this is carbon steel and must be properly cared for
