Manhattan Toy Wimmer-Ferguson Double-Feature Mirror for Self-Discovery, 5 inches

We got the Manhattan Baby Wimmer Feruguson Double-Feature Mirror when our baby was 6 weeks old because we noticed that she liked to look at black and white pictures on the wall. We hung the mirror so that the picture side was showing when she was in her crib. Prior to hanging this, our baby fussed quite a bit when she was in her crib. Now, she will stare at the black and white images, "talk" to them, and kick her legs excitedly for long periods while in her crib. She has been doing this for the past 2 weeks, since we purchased the item. We have not tried the mirror side, yet, because she enjoys the pictures so much. The quality of the whole product and the mirror is good - no distortion. I did not have any trouble attaching the mirror to the crib, although the ribbon attachments seemed a little short; however, this may be a safety feature as one wouldn't want something too long dangling into the crib.

Our early intervention coordinator brought a product similar to the Wimmer-Ferguson Double-Feature Mirror to our house during a visit with our son when he was 3 months old. I started looking for one, but it seemed that the only unbreakable mirrors that I could find were the locker mirrors for kids at school. Those were really small and I wanted a larger one that he could really look at himself in. I was thrilled when I found this one on Amazon! Our baby is now 1 year old and he continues to play with this daily. He sits and talks to himself in it, waves to himself and just loves to look at reflections of us behind him. The mirror is unbreakable and has a great reflective surface - looks just like a mirror. The opposite side is filled with black and white reversing images which are supposed to be stimulating to baby's eyes. Our baby prefers to look at himself. It's washable with just soap and water. We've had it for about 6 months, and it's holding up great!

It was so hard to find a good baby mirror that was not distorted. I didn't want my baby to feel like he was in a circus funhouse! So I was very happy to find this one! It's a good size mirror (which is an added bonus) and has attached ribbons for tying it to activity centers or crib rails. My son is 7 months now and has been using this since he was 3 months. He always gets the biggest smile when he sees his "friend" in the mirror. We have it tied to his crib rails now and we can hear him talking and babbling to it at night through our baby monitor after we have put him to bed. This is a high quality item and definitely worth the price we paid for it!

As a pediatric PT I love to use this mirror when we work on the hated tummy time activities as well as in sitting. For the younger babies, I prop it in front of them against some furniture and hang linking rings with rattles from the top to encourage looking up and lifting their heads. As they get older and easily prop on their elbows, I like to lay it on the floor in front of them with a toy on it (suction cup toys work well) so that they can see themselves and even me if I'm sitting behind them to help and work on shifting weight and reaching. Once they're working on sitting, I can sit behind them and we can still make eye contact in the mirror propped vertically in front while at the same time I can watch their facial expressions and see how they are reaching and playing with toys. I'm sure it works well as a crib toy too though I've never used it for that as my own baby is 22 years old! The black and white designs on the back are great visual stimulation and a favorite of our early intervention teacher.

Our baby girl LOVES this mirror! It has made tummy time a good time instead of a sad time. You can prop it up against a wall, couch, or maybe attach it to a basket or something but we can angel it so she sees us and we see her it's really fun. The learning game on the back is good too she has yet to get tired of it. I have now alose put this in the car when we take longer trips and it really helps make things less boring for her. It's a good buy. The only thing I'd change is they should have added a prop up to the back so you don't have to use a wall or hang it on something.

After years of being off the market, Wimmer-Ferguson has finally brought their "double feature" mirror back, and I am thrilled. It's slightly smaller (ie. 1") than the original mirror, but it's still wonderful. It's 100% plastic (except for the grosgrain ribbon ties which can be removed if you choose), and the mirror is firm and distortion-free. Whereas the original double feature mirror had a white backing with black images, this has a black backing with white images. Also, the black/white side has a matte-like finish versus the smooth/slick surface of the original one. There are no sharp edges thanks to a blunt plastic edging around the entire mirror. Yes, it's an expensive mirror, but it will last through generations of children. It's sturdy, easy to clean, and a guaranteed favorite among countless babies. It's nicely packaged and would make a unique, (easy to wrap!) gift! Thank you Wimmer-Ferguson for bringing this beloved mirror back!

I ordered this mirror when my son was a month old, and I wish I'd ordered it sooner. I hesitated for awhile because it seemed expensive, but it's been worth every penny. He's almost 7 months now and this has been one of the best toys we purchased. He plays with it pretty roughly now, and we have not had any of the quality problems that some of the other reviewers have noted. Seems like any game he plays is even more fun when he can watch himself doing it. Uses: 1. Just looking at his reflection, smiling, laughing and cooing at the baby in the mirror. Also trying to eat the baby in the mirror and checking behind it to see where the rest of that baby is. 2. On the changing table, keeps him entertained and calms him down. 3. In the crib by itself. I wedge it between the mattress and the side of the crib. Even with no other toys, just the mirror keeps him happy. 3. In the crib, with the Fisher-Price Discover 'n Grow Kick and Play Piano Gym and the Flensted Mobiles Nursery Mobiles, Penguin In Tails. This "golden trio" keeps him happy for longer periods of time so I can have a break. It keeps him occupied for so long that I've even been able to take a few quick showers. 4. On the floor, for tummy time, crawling, and rolling around 5. I've knotted the ribbons in loops and used a chain of the Bright Starts Lots of Links- Solid Colors to hang it off the outside of his crib, so he can see himself while he's in the exersaucer. Again, seems like anything is more entertaining when he can watch himself. As he grows and develops we keep finding new uses for the mirror. I don't know what we'd do without it.

I purchased this only to use inside my granddaughter’s crib. She literally uses it daily. She’s only 5 mths old but loves looking into it. She hits toys on it without scratching it at all, its large which is great and has little straps that allowed me to tie it to the crib bars. I have a mesh bumper pad in the crib and have it tied just above the bumper pad and hanging in front of the bumper. I tucked it into the side of the mattress so she is unable to get behind it. All in all a great purchase

Bought this for my daughter's baby who was born 10 weeks premature, having seen it on another baby's cot. We used it in the hospital and when could focus he did look at the black and white pictures on one side, keeping him settled at nappy change time. It won't fit on some neonatal cots but we just propped it up.The toy is good quality and not flimsy in any way and will be useful for many months. Although not particularly cheap I am very pleased with the purchase.

Mein Sohn ( 7 Monate ) gefällt diesen Spiegel gut. Er ist stabil und total für die kleinsten geeignet. Ich bin zufrieden und kann es weiter empfehlen.

Nous avions remarqué que notre petit bonhomme adorait se regarder dans le miroir de notre cuisine ! Il est tout en plastique, et le miroir est de bonne qualité. Il n'est absolument pas déformant. Nous l'avons installé dans le parc de petit pou, qui adore se regarder, mettre sa tête contre, nous voir par l'intermédiaire du miroir. Il a beaucoup de succès ! Récemment notre petit essayait de le retourner pour voir les images derrières. Nous avons donc inversé de côté le miroir. Il peut maintenant s'amuser avec les dessins noirs et blancs, qui ont beaucoup de contraste. Il n'arrête pas de toucher les différentes cases. Je suis très contente de cet achat, qui permet à bébé de s'amuser sans aucun risque de blessure. Je recommande !!!

Buena calidad- es lo que esperaba para este precio y marca. No encontré otro espejo de esa calidad de visión (no deforma) o tamaño que le va súper bien al peque de dos meses y seguro cuando sea más mayor tb. Buena signal : Se ha reído en segura cuando se lo he enseñado y el otro lado le llama la atención: imágenes blancas y negras, diferentes de los de libros famosos que se encuentran. Una buena adición al gimnasio de actividades y pienso que lo usaré tb en el coche. Lo recomiendo si o si ! Genial! Le ayudará tb a estimular su cuello en ambas direcciones. Además, he visto en la web que se encuentran actividades educativas que se pueden desarrollar con este espejo también :) Súper contenta con esta compra.

Ho acquistato questo specchio double-face in stile montessoriano quando la mia bimba aveva pochi mesi, e a distanza di quasi tre anni posso dire che è stato uno degli acquisti più duraturi e versatili che abbia fatto. 👶🏻 Perfetto fin dai primi mesi: All’inizio lo usavamo dal lato con le immagini in bianco e nero, ideali per stimolare la vista nei neonati. Potevo appoggiarlo nella palestrina o accanto a lei mentre era a pancia in giù, e attirava sempre la sua attenzione. 🪞 Poi è diventato “lo specchio di riferimento”: Crescendo, ha iniziato a usarlo dal lato specchio per scoprirsi, imitarsi e divertirsi con le espressioni. Ora che ha quasi 3 anni, lo prende spesso in mano da sola, soprattutto dopo che l’ho vestita, per “controllarsi” e osservarsi. ✅ I punti forti: È leggerissimo e infrangibile, quindi può essere maneggiato anche dai più piccoli in totale sicurezza. Pur non essendo in vetro, l’immagine non è affatto distorta, cosa non scontata in questo tipo di prodotti.
