Works Well -- with a couple modifications
I was quite skeptical about whether this was going to work, but since I often am affixing hundreds of labels at a time I was willing to take a chance on anything that might save time. My initial attempts to use this machine did not go well. The edge of the roll of labels closest to the main housing was being folded over and the paper backing of the labels was tearing at the point the label was just reaching the edge at which the label and backing were to be separated. The solutions were pretty simple. To prevent the roll of labels from being folded over I just had to space out the alignment on the takeup spindle about 1/2 inch from the main housing to ensure it was being pulled slightly away from the main housing. Since figuring that out, there has been no problem. As for the issue of the paper backing tearing, I quickly realized that the clear plastic panel that holds the labels down as they approach the edge at which the labels and backing are separated had a lot of downward tension. I mean, this was causing a lot of friction and a lot of force was required to pull the strip of labels under that clear plastic panel. The edge at which the backing goes down and back to the takeup spindle is a fairly sharp angle, and the paper backing just was not strong enough to withstand the force required. I looked for a way to adjust whatever spring was holding down the clear plastic panel, but found none. So I took a small piece of the paper backing and folded it a couple times to act as a spacer between the clear plastic panel and the separating edge. There still was too much friction for the paper backing, so I folded it a couple more times. I now have probably 8 layers of the backing positioned about 1/4" to the side of where the strip of labels feeds. There still is good friction to keep the strip of labels taut as it goes under the clear plastic panel, so the backing is pulled sharply down and back to the takeup spindle while the label continues straight out. It may not look classy, but in the absence of any way to adjust the tension this works. I have not tried this with larger labels and am unsure how well the sensor would work with something larger, but for what I am doing this is effective and has reduced the time required to peel labels off the roll and to attach them to sample bags by about 40% compared to doing it all by hand.

Great price, may take some tweaking to get it to work just right
I was a bit worried about this dispenser once I plugged it in and turned it on. To back up to the beginning, we are using this exclusively for 3" circle labels on a big roll that is about 9" overall diameter (2500 labels to a roll). This is squarely within the unit's stated capacity so I though it should work no problem. But, upon first use, no matter how I adjusted the knobs for speed and distance, it just kept tearing the label backing on the roll. I noticed as other reviewers have mentioned two problems with the way the machine was set up. One was that the clear plastic spring-tension "holder" seemed way too tight, so I inserted a piece of corrugated box as a spacer to relieve the tension. The second is that the metal edge that the label tape turns on and then gets wound to the rear is way too thin and that was probably most directly causing the tearing. For this I put a piece of 3M double stick foam (leaving the outside slippery backing on) to make that edge much smoother. After doing this the dispenser works great. The photo-eye detects when you grab a label and won't advance the roll until it is removed. You can leave the machine on all the time and it won't move until you grab that label which is perfect for our usage. Although the machine seems solidly made, the big roll made it a bit too top heavy where it could easily fall backwards on any slight bump, so we have in sitting with the rear elevated about 1inch higher than the front to balance better.

Works 3-4 months then buy a new one!
These label machines work OK for about 3-4 months if they are used daily and for 6-8 hours. While they are one of the only ones available that we can use due to our specific need we do purchase them. We see that the electronics fail and you just have to replace them as there is no parts or warranty for them.

Double labels like the images show must be in the same roll.
I couldn't get it to work properly for me, but it was most likely user error.

Not a bad unit but cheaply made.

Very good economical label dispenser
Everything works as described, however, the U shape metal that holds the residual labels backing roll is very flimsy, it does not stay the same shape as it came so you need to ply it to shape once in a while.
