I'm a firefighter and frequently need to cut car battery cables. Are these appropriate for cutting that gauge wire?

As a former firefighter myself I would say no. They would work in a pinch but you'd have to make many cuts to cut through the cable, not something you need to mess with while trying to disconnect the battery after a wreck. Someone makes a pliers that resembles a parrot's beak, a by-pass type cutter, that would be what you're looking for. Those would cut in one try. I'll see if I can find a pair on Amazon and relay the stock number.

will it cut through regular nails like nails used for framing?

they will cut just about any nail however it will dull them after a while i keep a old pair in my tool bag when im framing they are good for removing nails from boards as well they are not really sharpenable

will these cut bailing wire?

Should cut bailing wire easily, since it's relatively thin and easy to work with. I've cut back minor shrubs, coax(RG-6, 11 and 59), and bonding wire(10ga, 14ga, and 16ga).

Do they rust if leave in room with high humidity?

I think eventually they would but mine haven’t and the humidity here in Ohio is the worst. They do have a little rust on them.
