What is difference between these & titanium ones, other than metal?

The titanium Shear blades will stay sharper for a longer period of time.

Says it is 5 inches long, description says 8 inches-how long is it? How wide is it in the closed position?

These sellers seem confused about what they are selling. From the tip of the blade to the of the handles, in the closed position, the shears are 6 1/8 inch long. The functional part of the shears blade is 1 3/4 inch long while the full blade is 1 7/8 inch long. At the widest part of the handle in the closed position, the handle is 1 5/8 inch. A hint: expect the lock to fail as it is plastic and after minimal use my locks have failed on two pair of these shears. They continue to be functional, though.

has the locking mechanism been changed?

Yes. It is now on the side instead of being a "U" shaped mechanism folded over the blades. The old ones were engaged/disengaged with the thumb on the top of the blades. The new one is located on the side and is not distorted - leading to failure to lock - like the old ones were.

Before I order the sissors I wanted to make sure they are electric, battery operated sissors. I do not see this information stated anywhere.

They are not electric or battery operated scissors. I have arthritis in my hands and these are easy to use, but operate just like regular scissors.

These are very nice scissors. I do have trouble with the lock and my hands are small so holding them would be easier if the had a thumb grip. They work well and are sharp. Much easier then regular scissors to use.
