iCarsoft POR V3.0 for Porsche/Cayenne Diagnostic Tool with auto VIN/Quick Test

I wanted a device to check codes on a Porsche. Such devices are hard to find. This was all I wanted and more. I plugged it in and turned the key to on [not starting the car]. A selection panel popped up with arrow keys to navigate and an enter key to select. I ran a full diagnoses and while I didn't time it it was really quick. The units with faults popped up and I was able to select, review and reset as required. A possible weakness is it does show things that don't exist, like sat radio, as a fault. I don't know if that can be turned off. The device did not recognize my car so I had to enter the ViN. It immediately identified the car from the VIN. Apparently some cars get recognized automatically, but having to enter the VIN was not a big deal. The only weakness for me is it is Windows based [I use Mac] and you have to download a program to a Windows computer if you want to update the software [I don't need to do that] or print a report. However, I'm not sure why I would ever need to print a report so I can live with it.

It did not work out of the box, then upgraded the software to V23.10 and V33.50 from their website and it worked. Very easy to upgrade. Just downloaded the iCarsoft client kit from the website, plugged in device using the supplied USB cable, told the software which drive the device is in and upgraded in about 3min.

Before buying this product, I inquired with seller - manufacturer if it's compatible with a 2019 Porsche Cayenne. They responded that it has now been updated and is compatible with it and sent me a link to buy it on Amazon, which I did. Upon receipt, I immediately followed all installation instructions and tried to reset the oil service message on a 2019 Porsche Cayenne, but received an error message that "this function is not supported for this vehicle". The device correctly recognizes the car by VIN identification, but does not reset the service message. I tried to upgrade the software through their website, but the device already had the latest software. I tried about 10 times to reset the oil message, resulting in same error message. They told me to send them a log file, which I had to spend time figuring out how to do and finally sent it. It's been 3 weeks and they have not been able to resolve this. I emailed a few times for an update and my requests have been mostly ignored, with a vague response that they are looking into this issue. Poor customer service. Do not advertise a product to be compatible with a certain vehicle before testing it on that vehicle and making sure that it is compatible. An oil reset is the most basic and most common function which customers will buy this product for. I'm returning this product and will look for something else. Even if they fix it, I don't trust this company, which lacks customer service in the technical support area. They are trying to disguise the fact that they are a Chinese company, by using common American names in e-mail responses and using a U.S. address. Their customer service tactics are clearly un-American.

Definitely worth every single penny. Kids easy to use. You will learn. Readability is easy. Diagnostics are accurate. Connectivity easy. My husband is a mechanic and loves this thing. No more hassles of having to bring my car somewhere to reset my oil setting.

I found the unit easy to use but immediately noted when doing VIN identification that the software only supported 2018 and earlier Cayenne's and received an oil reset not supported message when attempting to do an oil reset on my 2021 Cayenne. I performed an iCarsoft software update, which was very easy to do, but found it was still the same version that came with the unit. The unit was able to perform diagnostics of many, if not all, of the Cayenne systems but since I purchased this to do oil and maintenance resets it doesn't meet my needs. As a future reference, I decided to also try this on my 2013 981 and found it did a good job of diagnostics and oil reset worked on it. I'm returning it but only because I need a single diagnostic tool that supports all my Porsche's.

This was a requested Christmas gift and he loved it.

must have if you do any work on your modern Porsches, works right out of the box.

I only write reviews when my experience is significantly different from most of the reviews I've read; that's certainly the case here. I highly recommend this, it just works. I contacted tech support and they responded extremely quickly and were very helpful. They confirmed this would work on my car, I asked because the description says Cayenne-which I don't have. I used it to code a new battery. I didn't get a Porsche battery so it took a little googling to figure out how to get around fields that were NA, required entering the correct number of characters. Anyways, worked great, scanned and cleared a couple codes too. The UI is really straight forward, great tech support, and the materials quality of the unit and padded case are really nice.

Not compleet.

Purchased for resetting the maintenance intervals on my 911 (992) and 9Y0 Cayenne. Worked great over both vehicles. For the 911 I required a software update on the scanner. Support was very helpful and got my going quickly. Interface is easy to use as well.

This scanner works fine for Porsche models till 2018… it works fine on 991 till (991.2) but not on a 992… same applies for cayenne from 2019 onwards it doesn’t work.

Changed the battery and needed to reset the air bags light (much cheaper than a trip to the dealer).

It doesn’t support the vehicle cannot clear oil reset
