Excellent book on the evolution of the various styles Picasso adopted and developed. I liked the sketches in particular and explanations of who the final drawings developed as well as the development of his ideas

Sshh.... work in progress...
While enduring the labours of my Scottish Higher in Art and Design I came across this book lying on my tutor's desk. Upon my first flick, I became immediately detached from my studies to spend the rest of my afternoon reading. This book left me in awe (at the age of 17 I had only begun to study famous artists and their impact upon movements in art) I felt that I had gained a tremendous insight into the way Picasso thought. His sketchbooks contain alot of beautiful work. There are many portraits and figurative studies which evolve throughout the book. They gradually become more deformed and abstract; something that you do not get to see in "overview" books. The enormous significance of these sketchbooks is hard to absorb, after all, they are the blue-prints of some of the most famous paintings ever created.Buy this book, and you will be captivated. Do it now.
