My 6 yo loved this book
Our librarian picked this book out for my son to encourage reading at his level last summer. It was a fantastic pick and he liked it so much he was sad to see if go back to the library when it was due so I bought it for him for Christmas. He was so happy. It's a cute book.

Tickles 4 year olds fancy
We have a dog named Pepper, whom our four year old calls Pupper. So this book absolutely tickles his fancy. It’s simple, and maybe we wouldn’t find it has wonderful if we didn’t also have a dog named Pupper, but for us it’s perfect! This is also what I call an easier read, so he will be able to read it shortly after his literacy skills roll in.

Cute read featuring dogs, perfect for reluctant readers
I received a copy in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.I've been a fan of Applegate's books since I was little, so when I saw she had a new book out, I knew I had to read it with my daughter! Plus, you can't go wrong with books about doggos, right? It's a surefire way to get her to read them every time. This is a quick, short book that was fun to read. The art in it is adorable and fun. I loved seeing all the different "jobs" Doggo had around the house, and it made my daughter and I laugh thinking about all the ones Doggo had in common with our own dogs.Since we read it together, I'm going to let my 10-year-old share her thoughts about it, too:The book is mostly about a dog named Doggo that doesn’t do a lot, and his owners bring a new puppy for him to spend time with. The puppy, Pupper, was always getting in trouble so the owners sent him off to charm school. The theme of this book would be that people that you don’t like to start with can become your friend.I gave this book five stars because I really like dogs and the main characters were dogs. I also like books where animals can talk because they tell what the animal is feeling. At some parts this book was funny, and I really like funny books. The main thing that I like about about Doggo is that he doesn’t really smile a lot because he probably has a boring life, but he always says that he likes his life the way it is. I also like that when the cat says, “How was your day?” he always says, “Same old, same old. It could have been worse.” The main thing that I like about Pupper is that he is always bugging Doggo and my dog is always bugging me. I also really like that he is always messing around and being silly.Five things she enjoyed:- Pupper was always messy and silly. I like that because that is what my dog is.- It was funny at some parts and I like funny books.- Every time that Pupper or his owner had an idea something bad happened.- At first Doggo hated Pupper but at the end they became friends.- Every time that the cat asked how Doggo’s day was, he said, “Same old, same old. It could have been worse.” He even said that after he went on a fun car ride with Pupper.

1st Grader loved this book!
Such a good book for beginning readers. It's a beginner level chapter book with easier words. Good fun read with compelling (for young readers) illustrations. Our first grader likes Dogman books and it's difficult to find books as captivating. This one did it in a sweeter but funny way! If your kids are almost ready or are ready for Mercy Watson books this is right on the same level!
