Seven to Eternity Volume 4: The Springs of Zhal

“It is a sad thing that your adventures have ended here.”
This book continues the wonderful art and world building of the previous volumes. Sadly this is where the story ends. I had hoped this series had more to offer and would span many more volumes. (Only 17 issues, what a travesty for such a creative and expansive world end so quickly. It always felt as the premise promised more.)I am glad for an ending considering how many comics I’ve started that’s stories never reached a conclusion.

Product is great. Packaging inadequate. Product arrived in less than desirable condition.

Ending dissapointed
It just felt like it was all for nothing. Maybe I didn't get it, but 5 years for this? Just let down.

Good book poor condition
Good book. But the book came in bad condition. Bent and some sticky substance ruined the cover.

An appropriately challenging ending
The world of Seven To Eternity has so much complex and mysterious depth, with rules that shock and blindside, in a story of subversive philosophies and social commentary, driven by characters who subtly unfold surprising revelations in their motivations, AND now after years of waiting, it sadly comes to completion after only 17 issues. This comic is a testament to creativity and a rebellion against the conformity of cliche storytelling. If I were to predict what would happen next after every issue, I'd be wrong every time. The ending is particularly daring and I'm bustling with pride that I get to live in a world where Rick Remender writes comics, and Jerome Opena illustrates them.

wow. Wow! WOW
Vol 1: Promising. Sweet art.Vol 2: Ok. I'm getting into it kinda. AMAZING art.Vol 3: Wow! This is incredible and the art is next-levelVol 4: This & the accompanying art is one of the greatest short series ever written.Tokyo Ghost was ok. Low started really strong. This is a masterpiece in every way.I like that Remenders work deals with truly adult themes. Loss, sadness, family, love, children, psychology, human frailty, politics, social structures. I look back on Transmetropolitian now and it seems almost trite. It was a very on-the-nose punk rock approach to matters of social just ice and politics, but Remender adds philosophy in a way I think few writers catch. Beyond that, he's not going to give you the sappy ending. He rubs human failure against all hope right in your face and yet you don't get a cynical ending. You get a philosophical one on the nature of the human condition. Not the things we aspire to. Not our darkest impulses. Something in between.

Fine work printed on absorbent toilet roll…
If you’re on this fourth volume, then you’ve bought into the story already. What I say here won’t matter, as we all want to see things concluded… regardless of the outcome. The art is at times really wonderful and for me that was the big selling point driving me to make this purchase. My issue with Seven to Eternity is as follows…The paper stock this is printed on seems to have gotten considerably worse. And volumes 1-3 were pretty bad alreadyAs my photos clearly illucidate, there are actual ripples in all of the sheets throughout the book.I’ve noticed the quality of the paper has been slipping across many graphic novels over the last couple of years, but this is worse than average. If you’re not fussy about longevity or possible paper tears, then this will be fine and you can ignore what I’ve written.

Good story telling and incredible art
This volume took a while to come out and it was well worth the wait as the artwork is simply beautiful. The splash pages are tremendous and shows a wealth of imagination to match the story, which speaks to me on some levels personally.

Wow, great series. Amazing Art. Love Rick Remender
Such a great series, will be re-reading this one again soon. The art is phenomenal, really interesting universe. Wanted it to keep going, but it's also really nice to have these shorter series. not everything needs to be 10+ volumes!probably one of my favorite comics from recent years.
