A must read for every parent in Wales
This is a first-hand account of education after devolution. It is evidenced and measured and it also doesn’t pull punches. You don’t have to agree with everything (or anything) he says to value his perspective and experience. Should his views replace yours? No of course not but they should inform them. This is a too rare account of how the Welsh education system is run.

It is beautifully written and cogently argued
Knowing very little about the Welsh education system or devolution, I nevertheless found this to be an interesting and insightful read. It shows quite clearly the impact of political decisions and ideologies on the lives of our young people, in this case looking at the educational system in Wales. It is beautifully written and cogently argued. I liked the idea of taking a child named Megan through the book and showing how various changes would have applied to her during her education.

Thorough and accessible.
Excellent analysis of successive Welsh Governments and their education policies. Education has often been the only 'meaty' portfolio a Minister can influence, if only they'd listen to experts like Dr Dixon. Each new Minister / Cab Sec should be given a copy!
