this is a true text book...full of information, but written in a way which captures one's interest immediately, and piques one's curiosity. In spite of being dense with chemistry, folklore, history, and botany, it is a book that I love to dip into when I have a few minutes to spend....Cardon's enthusiasm is communicated, and very engaging....and the research is staggering. It is well worth the (considerable) cost for this formidable book.

Saw a copy of this in India and had to have it. It is a wonderful book even if you are not into the technical side of dyeing. Just to read about the plants etc is amazing. Would recommend it to anyone with the slightest interest in dyeing. Fabulous!

私が買ったときはこんなに安くなかった(2万位したよ)円相場に感謝しながら...買うなら今です。染色の方法はもちろん、歴史的なもの、科学的なものまで解説しています。染色を気軽に家庭でやる本が増えてますが、正しい知識だけは持ってほしいと思います。化学として染色をとらえてほしいと思っているのですが、この本はまさにそれを解説します。もちろん英語でかいてます。私もがんばって読んでます。なかなか読めません。一生かかっても読んでいきたいと思ってます。
