I was asked to rate accuracy. It seems to always display a lower temp than my phone app the pool controller has. Not sure which one is correct as I did not bother checking as 5 degrees is not a big deal. My wife feels the water is actually warmer that what the themometer reads. I actually bought this for the spa section of the pool and it works good enough for that. Difficult to read at night or in low light. It gets the job done good enough though.

Now I do hate to out myself as a full-blown aquatic nerd, but let’s be honest—this splendid little contraption is simply divine for open water temperature reconnaissance. Yes, yes, it’s marketed for pools and hot tubs, but I’ve given it a far nobler task: I tether it quite regally to my swim buoy, and off I go into the wild chilly yonder, feeling ever so adventurous, like a posh penguin with a plan. When the icy fingers of doubt creep in and I begin to question whether I’m merely being dramatic or actually freezing my noble bits off, this trusty thermometer confirms that yes, I am not being a delicate daisy—it is cold, and I am correct, thank you very much. With a clear display, Celsius and Fahrenheit (because why not have options?), and a floaty design that’s more reliable than most of my exes, it’s now a permanent member of my swim ensemble. Frankly, I wouldn’t dip a toe without it. Five stars, and a polite curtsy.

Head's Up! False presentation. It's not "large". By "Large" I'm referring to the temperature gauge presentation. It's in "Fine" print.....really small. And it's not returnable! Amazon made it right, no issue there. The product isn't worth buying.

Not for a hot hot tub. For a pool I imagine will last perhaps forever. For exteme heated hot tub... 100+degrees not so. Mine lasted 2-3 years. Not long enough life for me. Clear plastic gets foggy white eventually.

I have one of these tethered to a safety rope ring that was already installed in my pool. This ring is for putting in a line of floats to demarcate the shallow from the deep end. Anyways, for an analog thermometer it is exactly what you would hope for and is quite stable as it floats always in the vertical position.
