Beautiful African Violets
Bambook always uses a heat pak when shipping a plant, it makes such a difference. I bought African Violets this time. He has a lot of really cool varieties. There were some leaves off these plants. We had a Terrible Ice and snow storm of 8 inches one day and eight the next. It was all I could do to try to keep things clean. I fell about 4 times in my driveway it was so bad. I parked the car right up to the steps, but just before a delivery there was more snow. I didn't catch that one and the UPS guy that I know well tried to deliver fast and efficiently and because he didn't realize they were plants, they ended up on their sides, thus the leave breakage. I will simply trim it down before putting it into a pot. i'm trying to give it a break at this moment. The buds will be blooming, so I can't wait to see the official color to match a pot. I really love the plants he has because they re always so healthy. I highly Recommend Bamboo.

Surprisingly Healthy
I always had African violets on the windowsill when I lived in Philadelphia--they were sold everywhere, including at the grocery store. Haven't been able to find them since moving to Miami, so I ordered some from another seller a year ago. They were small and didn't survive, so I was reluctant to try again, but I bought these a month ago, potted them, and have them on a west-facing window that gets lots of sun in the afternoons. They took several days to arrive, and even sat in the package on the front poarch for a couple days more because I was out of town when they arrived, so I wasn't hopeful...but they were healthy and in great condition when I opened the package and are now growing great! For those who haven't had African violets before, a couple of pointers: never, ever, ever get the leaves wet and plant them high enough in the pot that the leaves won't sit on wet soil. I know that most growers advise against full sun, but mine grow best on a windowsill with direct sun for several hours a day.

Favorite flower
I used to grow hundreds of African violets in a large stand with lights and trays to hold the plants on a grid with wicks down into water. Now I have a lovely east window, and I wanted to grow violets again, this time in natural light. I was impressed with the way the plants were packed. They were in a sleeve with the leaves almost upright. After a few days of sitting out, the leaves went back into place, and the plants looked beautiful. They aren't quite like the plants I grew for competition in the past, as the leaves don't lie flat and even around the center. However, they look lovely in my window and bring beauty and cheer to the room.

You might have to be patient but they are higher end African violets
My violet order took 5 days to get here via USPS in August - so they were in a hot, dark, box for 5 days. They were very wet and some leaves were damaged. One had a single flower and one showed flower stalks growing. Two months later the two are as seen in the photo. I know a lot more about African violets now than I did when I ordered these and can say that these two are not your standard big box store violets. The third plant was the last to flower and has a small dark red flower - nothing to write home about and I will pass it on to someone else. I love these but decided it is best to order from a hybridized on the east coast where I live - and I can pick specific named plants from their websites and they get here quicker. I don’t have much room to grow them and so have become very particular about what I buy since this order. This vendor is a good way for you to get started however.

Pretty plants
I love my new plants! Two of the three plants arrived in good condition and are doing very well indeed. However, the third was damaged beyond what love and care I could give and it died. All three were jammed into a box too small for them and wrapped up causing major damage and creases to the leaves. The tow surviving ones are doing well at present.

Would be nice except it looks like the plants sat somewhere very cold
I'm not sure if the photos show it well but there is a definite browning of some leaves. I picked off the worst of them and removed the flowers so the plants could use their energy to acclimate. The center of one is all brown, so no new growth. I doubt the seller sent them out like that as they all had plenty of flowers and were well-packaged. Not sure what happened. African Violets have been hard to find in the places where they used to be plentiful, so I bought online. The next day, I was in the grocery store and, lo and behold, there sat some African Violets, so I bought them and they are doing well. I would like a refund as I do not think these African Violets are going to make it since there is a new drooping leaf to pull off every day - soon there will be no leaves left. UPDATE: After some TLC these plants are beautifully blooming exactly as shown in the picture. They are well lworth the mpney and wait. My grocery store plants are doing well, too.
