A high price might keep people away from this stellar title!!
Some games are meant to shine on the market, some only glimmer. This is a strategy JRPG that conforms with the latter. While it didn't get marketed like bigger, triple A titles, this clever gem deserves the same love. For starters its a strategy RPG that borrows turn based mechanics and real time battle systems.Careful planning and strategic prowess are a must to overcome, at times, punishing opposition. You can select a wide variety of warriors from the over powering but crowding dragon mage to the balanced sword and shield class. Each have their own strengths and weaknesses, the dragon mage in example takes up 2 spaces in a 4 team troop. Every class has their own stats, strength, magic resistance etc, that can be upgraded via leveling. Careful consideration is required, especially things like TEC which determines how much exp a character gets. Aside from supriseingly deep combat is the camp screen, which is basically your home base. Every troop you get comes from here. You can customize their looks and voice, though not a robust system, it still is nice they give you the option. At camp you can buy gear, promote your troops, attend online wars, participate in quests, continue the main campaign and choose between the 4 nations. This is Grand kingdom's bread and butter, the last I mentioned mostly. Each nation has its own story and characters, quests and contracts to carry out. On the subject of characters, this game has plenty. While not Shakespearian dialogue and voice acting in any sense, it still is charming. You won't roll your eyes too much, though hearing one of the protagonists say the word prestige for the thousand'th time can be a pinch grating. Now on to the single player story and quests, I wont touch on multiplayer for this review. Maybe I'll update my review if I touch it. Anyway the story and quests. It not a very captivating plot, nations involved in wars and mercenaries taking any side that will pay. There are not many surprises and its story doesn't make the experience like many JRPG'S. That honor goes to its stellar art direction and charm. Before I continue let's discuss that very subject, its art and graphics are suburb. Every environment and character are given life with an anime, medieval overcoat that stands out. Some might not like cartoony graphics, but different strokes I guess. Now for the quests.... if you're expecting bland, typical archetype JRPG quests, monotonous fetch quests and monster hunter esque goals, you'll get em wholesale. However their inept blandness is given a dynamic twist. You see, the over world is designed like a board game, your party and enemies represented as chess like pieces. When you move, their pieces move as well. You can choose whether or not to engage, some quests require minimal enemy encounters. Quests and story missions limit how many moves you get. To reiterate, you must choose wisely regarding the amount of fights you get into because fights consume your move limit. Other factors on this board game are natural disasters and enemy traps. Some will hinder your progress and trap you for several moves, others will harm your team. Careful usage of moves is required, though you can disarm some hazards... if you have the right field items. There are also friendly medics on the board that'll heal you, provided you have the funds, and merchants. Also, there are random encounters with chumps who want to test your might. These are optional fortunately as some have over leveled foes. There us also another mode, where you can have no move restrictions, kind of a free play, here you can take up red bountys, tough foes for more money, gold enemy's which require sufficient grinding to beat, and uncover resources. These resources are vital to collect, wood, ore, etc. So there you have it. A surprise game that i hope many will enjoy for hours to come. Take it for what it is, a deep strategy game with unbelievable charm.

A Refreshing Strategy Game, Leaving You (Me) Wanting More
An amazing game and product, I honestly wished I could have been able to order the "Grand Edition" from NIS, but sadly did not have the money before it was sold out, I'm extremely loving the game and the artbook, the soundtrack is a nice addition deffinetly feels like it goes with the game, feeling like you're on an adventure. The game itself is fun, a little repetitive in combat and I wish there was a better learning curve and explanation curve, I do understand a lot of "Skills and Stats" are random, which is a little bit of a let down, wishing you could refresh somethings without having to do a full mission/quest. But overall extremely enjoyable, a little customization but again that is another department lacking. Plenty of time to invest into the game, I've watched walkthroughs along with just plain gameplay, but nothing compared to playing it myself and feeling the "strategy" come to life and be in control in my own hands, almost feels like a chess type game, there is plenty to due, grind and just enjoy, the story could have more to it, but honestly the fun comes to me in enjoying moving around the different maps, collecting and just destroying my enemies with my own little squad of mercenaries, 4.5 out of 5, so much more they could add, even though it truly does have it's amazing moments there are things leaving you wanting so much more, overall I see myself playing through multiple times just to enjoy a course of new randomness and squads.

The price was right, but the game is a bit clunky. If you play it like a normal off-line game (actively) the combat is a bit unique (combination of turn-based and active), but grows repetitive quickly. If you play the game online in "War" it still plays the same, expect the battle progresses in real time. Your combat is still exactly the same, but just every second that passes is a second the enemy is attacking your objectives, so even though it is a turn-based game you have to rush, to score well.

Will almost for sure be the most underrated game this year if not this decade. It's depth, replayability, exciting gameplay, beautiful art, and fantastic score should make this a GOTY contender. As it's something of a "niche" title, it has not gotten the coverage it deserves. If you are an RPG fan and you are sick and tired of being given the same thing over and over, this game is for you. I have been playing RPGs for 22 years and this game is in my top 5 favorites of all time.

Great Game for the RPG Fanatic!
Very fun RPG althought it can be a little obtuse at the start. Make sure you pay attention to the beginning tutorials or you will be lost! Overall I am having a great time with the game. The limited edition is very well made too. The poster is very nice and the sticker is high quality. The binding on the book feels a bit weird but just handle it with care and it should be ok.

Even called and they couldn't do anything so I had to fly home from work waiting for the mailmen like a creep
Gorgeous collectors edition. Nobody else carried it. Giving it 4 stars because it didn't give me or let me send it to amazon locker and forced me to have it sent to my house where my mail gets stolen occasionally (Bad neighborhood). Even called and they couldn't do anything so I had to fly home from work waiting for the mailmen like a creep. Just to point out that I love amazon locker and highly recommend it

Easily the best art books I have received with a game. The poster is surprisingly big, and having the soundtrack come with a jewel case is a nice touch. The game is also excellent

I only got the LE because it was on sale. I don't really care about the extras you get. They don't really help you in playing the game in any way. This seems to be a never ending game. So far, I'm into it for around 450 hours and can see double or triple that in the future especially if you're playing in the wars online. Oh, and I don't buy anything for the PS Store so I have to do a lot more work than those who spend their money buying all the extras and stuff. Anyway, I love the play, the variety of characters, the build up, the challenges, you name it. The only thing the game lacks is instructions for a lot of things, but YouTube has that covered. If you like really long SRPG type games, you'll adore this one.

Beautifully crafted limited edition. The game is a lot of fun and would score around 80-85% in my mind. The graphics and battle systems are a lot of fun - requiring strategy to work well. There are, however, many nuances that should have been fixed (ability to leave battles with an automatic fail when you are clearly outclassed, MUCH more explanation on how the War system works and what the heck you're doing, and more information when trying to figure out how to change some options). If they make a sequel, I think it could become an amazing series.

Saludos!!
