Pretty clear instructions and would buy again
Relatively easy install. Instructions clear. I did not have to Jerry right anything to install this camera. This was installed in a 2007 RAV4. The main disadvantage for me was the position of the license plate holder: below the left rear tail light. As a result it is not possible to really center the image relative to the center of the car. It comes with hardware that allows one to mount the camera in various ways. From the license plate, I was able to thread the video and power cables into the back door. Once there I needed to connect one wire to a ground in the door. Then I had to thread the video and power cables from the door to the car. There are many You Tube videos showing you how to pull the cables through the existing tubing ( to get from the door to the rear compartmentof the car). It's not that hard and you just have to go slow and be patient. From there you thread the cables along the other wires that go to the instrument panel in the front of the car. You then plug the video cable into the appropriate port of your head unit and must make a red wire connection to either in the head unit wire harness ( this turns the camera on when you put your car in reverse) It comes with a blanket with lines and you use this to calibrate the camera. Functionality: frankly I don't know how I've gotten by without a reverse camera all these years. Picture quality is excellent. There are yellow and red guidelines to show you how close you are to objects. No issues when using this at night. I've had this camera for just under 2 years and I've not have any issues. I do recall some difficulty when I was adjusting settings initially: you have to tap your finger someplace on the screen and I had trouble tapping on the correct spot to bring up the menu. Atoto support (email) was very good for any questions. It's not the cheapest of cameras but I am very happy with this purchase.

Full ATOTO setup - easy to recommend
I went with the ATOTO S8 Ultra, the ATOOT CA-AEC02 amp, the ATOTO AC-FCR04W front cam, and ATOTO AC-HD03LR rear cam. Those were all things I wanted, so I figured why not get all the same brand for compatibility. I'm going to post the same review in all of them. First, I'm blown away by how premium the head unit is. I've got a 2015 Fiat 500L with beats audio. Adding the head unit first easily upgrade the audio. A TON of settings to dial in (I used ChatGPT) and honestly, I could have stopped there and not added the amp. I may not bother changing out the speakers. It's easily a HUGE upgrade by itself. I added a sim and a sd card, downloaded a google maps offline map, all of my spotify playlists at highest quality and youtube music playlists. This way it uses very little data AND I no longer have to use android auto if I don't want to. I can finally leave my phone in my pocket while getting maps and music. The amp. It's tight, but it fits behind the head unit. I had to clear out as much plastic behind the head unit as possible. Also, some people mentioned the head unit overheats. I bought a 2x 50mm usb fan on Amazon and hooked it up to the head unit (it has more usb that I'd use anyway). So, it comes on and off with the head unit and the amp will never overheat. Also went with the optical cable. This does improve the sound (not the same jump as stock radio to the S8 ultra, but noticeably cleaner). I love that I don't have to mount it under a seat or in the trunk. Again, I'm conflicted about getting speakers (I'm looking at some focals) but I'm also curious if this setup can take a good set of speakers to yet another level. Especially with the level of customization available (16 levels front and 16 back, cross over, loudness, time delay) you can really geek out. Camera's are both good, no issues. The 360 view is trippy at first. I didn't try the tire pressure monitoring, wifi hotspot, or gesture controls (not my thing). The sim card tray was just a little loose (a small piece of electrical tape on the back got it snug enough to fit and work). Support was fast and helpful. Going forward I'll be looking at ATOTO units in the future. I'm always going to be looking at an android setup and their stuff is top shelf so I genuinely have no reason to look elsewhere.

Pros and cons. See tips in description for install.
Cool top view feature. calibration works, but it's a little tricky to tap the screen just right to get into the settings sometimes. Tape a string with a weight on the bottom to the bumper to get the distance just right on the checkerboard. I've had it for over a year now, and it's getting a little foggy. For some cars, if you have a license plate light above the camera, it will interfere with visibility because of the glare. The license plate mount is NOT the way to go, it is too flexible and if you bump it on accident, it throws your calibration off. Use the static mounts and tighten them up nice and tight (without stripping the hole) once you get the calibration right. Also, it would be nice to have an option to have a non fisheye in reverse. Overall a good purchase.

Works well with Atoto head unit but is NOT weatherproof!
Overall the camera is pretty good. It works well with the Atoto head unit, has good picture quality, is easy enough to install, and it's nice that it provides a full 180 degree view; however, it only lasted me about 6 months before it stopped working entirely. I installed this on my vehicle in May, but by December the camera stopped functioning altogether. The description states that this camera is IP67 rated for outdoor use, but I don't think this is true. After 6 months mounted in the elements, the screws on the back of the camera were rusty and the camera failed entirely. I was concerned there might be an issue with the wiring or the head unit, but I replaced it with the same model camera and it worked perfectly. I made sure to seal the housing of the new camera with silicone sealant, as well as put dabs of silicone over the screws after it was mounted. Additionally, I installed it inside of a camera visor (ASIN: B09LQL5W4P) to further protect it from the elements now that I know it's susceptible to failure. Overall, it's a good camera for the intended purpose but there are some obvious moisture intrusion issues that will result in total failure of the camera if you don't take extra precautions to keep moisture out of the camera.

Great image sensor, better than basically any other rear-view camera I've used.
I'm shocked, this is a really good camera. I've had this thing for a bit over 3 years at this point, and slowly realized just how good it is as I got to drive multiple other cars recently with both OEM and aftermarket backup cameras. Both in terms of how much degrees it covers, the dynamic range of the sensor and the quality of the video stream, this Viofo cam is superior. It picks up the light from the reverse lights pretty easily, it's very light sensitive so you won't be left in the dark when backing up at night. small FYI, it doesn't work with the A6 unfortunately, only with the S8 (they mention this, but I wanted to test regardless). I have both units and tested them personally. The camera connected to the A6 just won't display anything.

Doesn't work.
This is my 2nd camera from Atoto. The first was installed in another vehicle and continues to work great. I got this installed (and obviously I am capable of correct install) but it has no signal output even though there are signs confirming it has power. Contacted atoto and they did respond asking for photos of the installation but it isn't currently installed because I had to remove it in order to get the oem camera to work again so my wife woudk at least have that, so now I have to install it all over again to prove that it doesn't work. Annoying.

Awesome Customer Support!!
August 16 2024, purchased a replacement vehicle which prompted the purchase of my second, complete Atoto S8 MS Double Din system which I couldn't do without. As with the first, installation went without a hitch, calibrated the Atoto AC-HD03LR 180 degree camera and I was good to go. <ugh> a glitch in my car's electrical system reset the camera to default viewing. I couldn't use the original calibration cloth which had deteriorated. I began searching for a replacement calibration cloth but none with the same grid pattern was available. I finally went back to Atoto and inquired about the purchase of this item. Needless to say, Their response was over and beyond my expectation. They communicated quickly and sent a replacement cloth 'free' of charge. They also checked on me regularly regarding shipment until receipt of the item. 'Hanna' was responsive and professional in dealing with me. I am ecstatic with their support. It's somewhat rare anymore - I hope this is most Atoto customer's positive experience as well. Thank you so much!!

Worth the marginal price increase for the features and quality.
If you have the right headunit (I paired with the ATOTO S8 Ultra) this upgrade over the standard camera options is worth it for sure. having the Virtual Surround View in addition to the high resolution camera is really quite incredible. This tech combined with the capabilities of the ATOTO S8 Ultra have added the missing piece to what I believe to be one of the best luxury cars of all time, my Lexus LS 430. This is my 3rd ATOTO product and I believe the functionality and the cost to be worth every penny. Installation was fairly simple and daily use is automatic and easy.

Works kind of Great Spring, Summer & Fall — Fails Every Canadian Winter
I have a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 and installed an Atoto S8 in December 2023. The head unit itself? I absolutely love the Atoto S8! I’ve installed stereo systems since the 1970s and this thing is excellent—great features, solid performance, and miles ahead of the Eclipse unit it replaced (which the dealership installed so poorly I’m convinced it was done by their baboon squad). I tow a boat and need a backup camera so I can hook up the hitch without flag-waving or calling my wife out to guide me. That’s where things go off the rails. The backup camera has been a constant problem. It has never worked without interference, and every Canadian winter kills it. This is now my fourth camera. Same story every time: interference, corrosion, frame rusting out, then total failure once winter hits. At this point I don’t repair it—I just unplug it and install a new one. I fully expect this one to head south to Florida with the snowbirds when winter arrives. This year I might try unplugging it before winter just to see if it survives, which tells you everything you need to know. Bottom line: Atoto S8 head unit = fantastic Included/typical backup camera = disposable, especially in cold climates. Atoto do better! If you live anywhere with real winters, plan on replacing the camera regularly or sourcing a much better weatherproof option.

Works amazing!
Bought to go with the Atoto S8 Premium. A little bit of a pain to wire in but take your time and consult YouTube and you'll get it done in a day. Configuration was straightforward, I've now got a 15 year old car with 360 reverse cam! If you're thinking about it just buy it!

Video quality is great. broke after almost 3 years of being exposed to elements. the metal support rusts in about a day tho.

Night and day difference from OEM backup camera
Amazing add on from my s8 premium headunit to enable the surround view parking. The image quality of this camera makes night and day from my OEM backup camera. Highly recommended if you're looking an upgrade from your car.
