I changed this and it worked for a while. Then I thought it went bad again so I changed it again. Well that wasn’t the root cause of the lift gate not opening. Turns out Chevy thought that it would be a good idea to make the relay for the lift gate a non serviceable thing. The lift gate relay is soldered inside the base of the engine compartment fuse panel. To fix it you have to replace the fuse panel base with either a new one from the dealer ($300) or get a used one off EBay ($35) and hope that it doesn’t have the same issue as yours. Worked for me. Lift gate hasn’t missed in several months.

La instalación no es tan sencilla porque requiere desarmar parte de la cajuela pero con paciencia y siguiendo tutoriales es posible hacerlo uno mismo. El botón funciona correctamente, le quedó perfecto a una Equinox 2016, solo tuve que cambiar el marco del botón porque el de la camioneta es cuadrado y el que viene incluído es ovalado.

Installed in a 2012 Equinox - tailgate switch was not functioning consistently. This replacement installed fairly easily - it replaces the old rubber switch so it looks different, but you dont need any additional bezel or anything with this part #. To install it, you must remove the interior trim panel first. Note there is a screw in the handle area of the interior trim panel, pry the plastic cover off and you'll see the screw hiding under there. Once the interior panel is off you must remove the plastic panel on the outside of the tailgate that houses this switch assembly. The panel is held on with some nuts and some plastic retainers which are both accessed from the inside of the tailgate(ie the trim panel side). Remove the nuts first - each will have a access hole in the tailgate structure to get at them. Then I Used a 7mm socket to compress the plastic tabs on the plastic retainers - push the 7mm socket over the plastic tabs and it will compress the ears enough to make removal easy (easier than trying to get a pliers in there etc). The actual switch just pops out of that plastic panel on the tail gate and the new one pops in.
