very poor picture quality
Picture quality was very bad, and no sound. I returned it and bought a Sewvstr DAC converter and it worked great out of the box.

Got it on time and works great so far
What a small item, but worth it. My mom was able to keep her stereo amplifier, which still worked fine, it just didn't accept HDMI. She switched technology for the TV and the terminal had to pass through the TV, which meant the TV had to be powered on to listen to the music channels. Now my mom can listen to music without the TV. The only downside, it has red and green lights, which are rather bright when it's dark.I was actually searching for a new amplifier when I came across this. I was able to fix my mom's issue 3 days after ordering this.

Great if you have a AV amp that only has optical inputs.

Worked for PS4 to wireless headphones.
I bought this to connect the audio from my PS4 to my wireless headphones transmitter with left/right audio plugs while keeping the video going to my tv with hdmi. The unit itself is surprisingly small but also sturdy - metal casing with screws. I am grateful for the included HDMI cable which saved me a separate purchase. There are three output settings: PASS, 2CH and 5.1CH. For my setup as described above 2CH and 5.1CH do not work. The PASS selection works perfectly. I am very happy with this purchase.

Power cable does NOT fit the device.
There is no way for the power cable to be fit into the 5V DC port. Absolutely useless. Additionally, the included HDMI cable is of such poor quality that it is unable to maintain a connection to the device itself.

It works
I wear hearing aids and have to use a tv-dex to hear the tv properly. All was good for years till this past fall when we switched from cable tv to internet tv. We no longer had a way to connect the tv-dex to the sound system. There are no longer any RCA outs. The hearing aid manufacture wasn't able to help. I stumbled on this unit when researching new surround sound systems. This was way cheaper than buying a new 5.1 or 7.1 surround system. It works great.
