My Cool Caravan: An inspirational guide to retro-style caravans

Great layout, great images, great notes.
Lewis, Haddon, and Walker's book was purchased largely on impulse based on the cover, since there weren't any posted reviews. I'm extremely pleased to say that the book has exceeded my expectations. Often trailer books neglect to pay proper attention to interiors. I'm happy to say that that is not the case with this book. Each trailer has at least one exterior photograph, and multiple interior shots, each showcasing the owner's aesthetic. The title promises "an inspirational guide to retro-style caravans," and that is certainly what it delivers. Those who own travel trailers will feel inspired to renovate them, and those who don't will feel compelled to find one.

Retro wonders, travel trailers, Airstream
This is a wonderful trip through a variety of campers and travel trailers. They show inspiring interiors. Most of the caravans are from England, with a few US types, especially my favorite, the Airstream, which gives a peek into their designs. Some have refubished their caravans with leaded glass, retro wallpaper, and other surprises. A fun book if you love trailers and want some ideas/inspiration.

My Cool Caravan - Buy it!
If you are trying to choose just one book about Vintage Travel Trailers (out of the myriad masterpieces available) CHOOSE THIS ONE!Writers are instructed to "show, don't tell." Jane and Chris not only show, they SHARE. These empathetic writers have constructed a guide to inspire even a casual onlooker of the grassroots, vintage travel trailer phenomenon sweeping both their own continent and "the states."They totally "get" the passion of rediscovering a gentler lifestyle for those of us who have been overwhelmed by technology and the constant rush toward all things disposable, even relationships. Like the gypsy caravan of old - they let you travel your own world; like a good book - they allow you to fly on the wings of your imagination; and like loving arms - they provide you with a sanctuary tailored specifically for you, by you.You will drool unabashedly as you enter caravan after caravan via the glorious photographs. Just as you think you've "got it" (the design inspiration for your own project), you enter yet another nostalgic tribute to simpler times, sending yourself reeling in a joyful and frenetic delirium of inspiration. These two writers should be nominated for a Nobel Prize in "writing to inspire."I cannot thank Jane and Chris enough for putting together this masterpiece and making it available FOR ME. I have already given two copies away and told countless others to order it. My Cool Caravan is my new wish book.No kidding--you absolutely will NOT be disappointed.P.S- For every woman, "Sisters on the Fly" should be your next purchase!

beautiful pictures
Nice array of caravans. The photographs are well done, but I wish some of them showed more detail.I am more interested in the actual trailers than in the decor. Some of the photos seemed to be hiding construction details.

Cool with a capitol 'C'!
What a fun book! As a new owner of a small very un-cool trailer this has inspired me to ditch the factory interior and make it my own. Now I need to figure out how to paint the exterior of a fiberglass trailer. Thanks so very much for the ideas. Love how there is an equal focus on history/interior/exterior...great book!

Very nice
I am very glad I got this, especially after the xenophobic reviews. This book mainly concentrates on the campers of our cousins across the pond (ergo "caravan"); however, anyone can enjoy it. I found some of the early British campers very appealing in shape and execution.Plenty of pictures, should appeal to anyone regardless of their interest in campers.

How those across the pond do it.
This is a way cool book from a different view, a British view of travel trailers or as they and the Continent call them "Caravans". Until looking at this book I didn't know that there were so many different makes of British and European caravans. Now I am on the hunt for a few of the "cuties" in the book. Nice book, well written, great photos.

Great stories, especially for someone that owns a caravan
This book was a gift to my son who, along with his wife, recently bought a small caravan which they now tow around the provincial parks in Ontario, Canada. They were delighted to get the book. I too read the short stories of how people came to own their caravans and what they do with them. A great book!

Average Photography
As a photographer myself the images in this book leave a lot to be desired. They are for the most part dark and dank and that's a shame as it could be a great little book if processed and printed better.

Très chouette découverte. Bien documenté, on cherche à en savoir plus après l'avoir lu.Je crois qu'il existe en français maintenant.
