Excellent Size for Adult Women Too
I love the size of this 3/4 guitar compared to my other full-sized acoustic guitars. It's amazing what companies are creating to make their customers happy. Not only is the size just perfect (adult woman), it is easier to store with it's small size, I hang mine on the wall with my ukuleles. This guitar has a righteous, beautiful sound, although with less volume...I have to strum or pick slightly harder to really hear the acoustics. I must say though, the lower volume helps, especially when I'm playing at night, and don't want to disturb everyone. Yamaha thought about volume in their design, and included an excellent, built-in pickup, AND a built-in tuner. The action is perfect, low to the fretboard, so no strain on the fingers when pressing. The strings are slightly closer together than my full-sized Yamaha guitar, but it's not a problem, because like any instrument, you just have to get used to it...and now that I'm used to it, I love it. I put on a Baritone ukulele strap, which is the perfect fit, width/size, and I find that I'm enjoying standing, walking around, and playing this new Yamaha...the standard sized guitars are too bulky for me to walk around with. A word of advice, if you intend to use a strap, buy one that will not slip around your neck. This guitar is terrific for travel, taking to the beach, campsites, whatever. I have made many good purchases on Amazon, and this is one of the top three. Thank you to all the people who took the time to do reviews on this guitar, and convinced me decide to purchase it.

Well made travel guitar
I bought this as a travel guitar. It's well made, it plays well (though I'll probably lower the action just a bit). The gigbag is minimal but does the job. Actually sounds decent amplified. Acoustically, it's fine--loud enough to hear but not so loud that you can't play it in a hotel room. Really just what I was looking for. If you're wanting big acoustic sound, look somewhere else. But that would actually be worse for what I wanted. All in all, I'm very happy with it.

Great little guitar.
I bought two for my sons to learn on but I enjoy playing them too. Nice little guitars. I'd pay $100 more to get it with a hard case. It's got a good bright tone and plays well enough guitar to justify a nice case. I haven't plugged it in to an amp yet. The built in tuner is a nice feature. Ive heard the case for mini taylor & martin fits it but they cost as much as this guitar. I still might buy a couple as my sons will probably play on these a long time and hard cases are much better for traveling.

Great choice for a 3/4 travel guitar.
Really happy with my purchase. Lower price range and plays accordingly. Well built very tough. The fret board/ frets are a bit rough as expected for the price range. Electronics work as they should. Sounds really good through an amp. The body is small so expect a smaller twangy sound on the high strings, almost mandolin sounding. Gets much fuller through an amp. For a guitar I bring with me everywhere it suits my needs. Don’t expect little Martin or baby Taylor sound out of this thing but it does make the sounds you should expect. Would give a 5th star if the action was a little better, barre chords can be a bit tough, and if the neck and frets were smoother.

Small guitar, big sound, good price. Love it.
Wife wants to play guitar again after a long hiatus. My full sized Takamine with fat strings is too big and heavy for her. Got her this 3/4 Yamaha and I fell in love with it. I may have to get another one for her because I've been hogging it. It has a great voice for a 3/4. The action is nice, the built in tuner is a real treat. Never had one before but it is unbelievably convenient. I don't plug it in often but I had to check out that sound too. The electronics sound decent. Can't crank it up too loud or it starts to feedback, but I'm actually sitting right on top of my small but punchy VOX amp so I can't really say how it would work for playing out. The reviews convinced me to buy this one. The best review only had one major complaint; the tuning pegs. I agree they could be better, but I don't think they are awful. I have to tweak the tuning just a little once or twice a day before I play, but it isn't like it goes out of tune when I'm playing, even when I'm beating on it hard. I think it is well worth the price and was surprised by the volume it produces. Much better than expected. If you don't find the tuning pegs worthy, I think the instrument is good enough to spend money on for an upgrade, but I don't plan to. It is solid, light weight, comfortable, nice sounding, well designed, feature rich and handy. I'm keeping it in the corner by the bed and I pick it up every chance I get. I haven't played guitar much the past few years so having a guitar at my fingertips all the time is helping me get my callouses back quickly. No matter what you play, if you lose your callouses, rebuilding them is always painful for a few weeks, but this instrument is pretty easy to play. I've gone through the process several times over the years with my Takamine. This is far less painful. Perhaps that means it will take longer, but at least I can still use my fingers to type long reviews in the meantime. No avoiding the pain regardless of what you play, but there is pain, and there is agony. This guitar hits a sweet spot somewhere in between. It's just right for young or old, big or small. (FWIW, I heard an interview with Clapton where he confessed he doesn't play much when he's not working and when he has to prepare for a tour, even he has to go through the callous building process). Well, I'm way off topic now. Again, great little guitar. Go for it.

Okay, but terrible electronics. Not as shown on Yamaha site. Wouldn't be good for gigs.
I played one of these in a store and wanted one ever since. Action is easy. Looks beautiful except a couple spots on the fretboard will need to be rubbed out. Fret board and bridge seemed dry but they looked great after some Dunlop lemon oil. Adequate sound for a little guitar. Fretboard is almost full size so you barely notice. Neck is heavier than the body so you have to strap it. Tuner works good. Where it fails is the electronics. NOT as shown on the Yamaha site. Just one contact mic near the center of the bridge, glued to the front of the guitar with NO spacer, which makes it over sensitive. Too much treble. Tone control has nothing to do with tone, just turns it up. So why label it as tone control?

Perfect for me!
For the price, this little guitar it is a steal. At the beginning you might feel some doubts but the more you play it the better it gets (it's going to be a year now). I did nothing to it. Still has its original strings and it keeps a perfect tuning. I haven't even replaced the battery yet. Plugged it in for better acoustics and you will get a very rich sound. Don't underestimate its little size (perfect for me with shoulder issues). I can't find any defects. The bad reviews I have seen are related to delivery or seller issues, but the Yamaha APXT2 is an achievement.
