Forever Comfy Cushion Boxed

So this is the second time I have purchased this cushion. The first time was about 2 years ago for our grandmother who loved sitting at the kitchen table by the window every morning to read her daily newspaper. We gave it to her for Christmas and she loved it so much we figured it was time for the old one to retire and for her to get a new one. So this Christmas we got her another one to replace it and her eyes lit up. She loved this cushion the last time and to see we thought enough to replace it for her made her day. Even got a hug from her after she opened it which doesn't happen very often. This is a comfortable and pain relieving cushion that works well for me.

BUYER BEWARE! This cushion was delivered today and after 2 hours of use the 125 lb female adult who had been sitting on it while typing at her desk stood up and noticed a huge wet spot on her clothing and on the chair. The gel inside had already leaked out. The cushion is noticeably flattened and lumpy as well and looks nothing like it did when taken out of the package earlier today. While we did not have high expectations for the cushion considering the price we DID assume it would last more than a few hours. The leaked gel left a mark on the leather seat of the desk chair which is still visible despite cleaning with a leather cleaning product.I'm adding an update because when I ordered this cushion I also ordered a second to be delivered to a friend as a gift and I learned that the SECOND cushion ALSO began leaking the first day it was in use (by a small, slender person who weighs 115 lbs) and was also flattened and ruined.

I purchased this for my father who lost a lot of weight after an extended hospital stay. If he's not telling tales to make me feel better :) then it was a good purchase for the cost. There was a lot of 'medical' titling that made you think you should put out a boatload of money for a cushion. Since I don't have a boatload of money, I did a little research and found that there's not a great deal of difference when you get out of 'foam'. The gel seats and cushions are recommended by a lot of therapists and this one has generous dimensions and a washable cover. It's thick enough that it doesn't compress down to nothingness and has enough give not to become as hard as what you're trying to cushion.I think it does the job because Dad uses it without fail everyday at the breakfast table. I'd recommend it.

I can understand the confusion on whether there is or isn't gel. At first when I unzipped the cover, I thought there wasn't any. But the weight of the pillow - especially the SHIFTING weight - made me pull the layers of foam apart a bit. There is an envelope of gel sandwiched between the foam layers. The foam is open cell and I'm sure will probably crush down fairly rapidly with regular use, but for $15 I'll just replace the foam. The cover is fine; I'm not having any particular issues with sliding but haven't tried in many situation yet. My hope for this was that it would be useful to my mother to raise the seat height, but the gel is thin and the foam crushes down too much, so I'm basically just using it as extra padding for an old office chair that still has great functionality ($300 of various tilt mechanisms, etc) but now has a fairly compressed, hard seat after 12 years.To get this to work for my mother's need to be able to raise seat heights to make it easier to stand up, I think I'll order a second one and replace the foam with some closed-cell foam cut from a Pilate's mat. I saw one here New - GOFIT GF-PMAT DELUXE PILATES FOAM MAT - GOFGFPMAT that should do the trick. Ultimately I'll end up spending about $50, but the result will be lighter for her to carry around than the full size wheelchair gel pillow on loan from a friend, and won't compress upon sitting as much either. We had ordered a "cushion" specifically for raising the seat height, and it was too narrow and felt like sitting on a bloody brick!Basically - for $15 the cover and the gel envelope are worth it; my guess is the foam will either need to be replaced regularly (buy an inexpensive foam mattress topper) or with a quality closed cell foam like the Pilates mat referenced above. I'll try to update in a few months to see if the one I'm using on the office chair has compressed a lot.

I bought this for my office chair after a marathon session for several months of sitting and producing and reviewing documentation. My backside was starting to hurt so bad I could barely lift myself out of the chair after sitting and typing for several hours. However, after buying this, I had no problems. The only downside was the fact that after a few days the seat cushion flattens out and you need to give it a rest over weekends if you were like me and using it at work the entire time you were working. However, after giving it a much needed rest over weekends, I had no problems with it and it was ready to go on Monday's. Great for the backside if you are forced into doing alot of sitting in your job and need some relief.

I saw the ad for this product on TV and I thought it made sense....after I bought it and used it for about 2 weeks I came to the realization that any regular cushion would do an equal or better job at much less than the price listed....I have since bought a foam rubber cushion that works much better
