I understand that you get what you pay for and I went into this purchase expecting a cheap product but one that would be functional for a couple years at most but this piece is absolute GARBAGE. It did not even survive assembly. As has happened to other reviewers, the assembled top drawer slid in and immediately locked shut. A couple of of tugs to try to get it back open and the entire drawer face came off. The screws had pulled out with large chunks of the particle board. I'm not a fan of particle board for furniture but it's a fact of life when you want affordability but this material is below furniture grade.By this time I was frustrated but not giving up. I'm used to sometimes having to reinforce my purchases with a little customization. A few brackets on the drawer interior, while not attractive, would restore functionality and not affect the aesthics of the exterior.So I lifted the drawer out and 30 tiny ball bearings spilled out of the slider. At this point I knew I was in trouble. That is a situation that is not easy to fix.At this point I am very frustrated and coming to the realization that I have probably pissed away two Benjamin's. So I decided to to put it aside and consider my options. I lifted the cabinet to move it aside and the entire top surface came away from the rest of the unit. So that was it. Game over.I do not know how the manufacturer expects a product to handle the weight of two drawers loaded with files when it can't even survive assembly. Shame on them for using such cheap materials not even suitable for a shoe rack, let alone a file cabinet. And of course boxing it back up and returning would be more of a hassle than it's worth. I guess you could say that you couldn't pay me $178 to go through that. So I I've basically been scammed. Fortunately, not for much.So, you've been warned. Consider the negative reviews carefully. They're legit. And ask yourself if you want to put yourself through this experience. I recommend you keep shopping.

I run a law practice and use this for my legs files. I keep it packed deep with legal size red wells. Some files are heavy with documents. After a short period of time, the drawer bottoms sagged and eventually popped out. Not ideal but understandable considering this is all particle wood.Under each drawer there is a recess of 1/2”. I cut out two pieces of plywood, one for each drawer, and mounted it with some Sheetrock screws. Problem solved. Now the drawers don’t bow under the weight.Aside from that issue, this is a well made cabinet that presents very well. It matches with any espresso or black finishes. Happy with the purchase!

I bought this Sauder Edge Water Lateral File for $205.Pros:- $205 seems like a good price for this- I really like the modern look of it. Great finish and style.- For not being real wood, it's a very heavy and sturdy pieceCons:- (Biggest gripe) The drawer bottoms (unlike all other parts of it) are made of cardboard rather than MDF. This is fine if you're *only* hanging files in it, since nothing really sits on the bottom. However I was hoping to store office supplies in the top drawer, and now I have to worry about not putting much weight on it. If it wasn't for this I would have given 5 stars.- Setup took a long time. Well over 3 hours.- The finish around the pre-drilled knob hole tore off enough that it exposed the non-finished part just a bit. Luckily I had a wood finish marker that made it un-noticable, but this is what you have to worry about with the non-real-wood finish. I'm afraid that if I ever scratch the surface somewhere obvious it will look very bad and not really be fixable.All in all, I'm happy with the piece. But if I could do it over again I would have probably purchased a solid-wood cabinet like the "Whittier Wood McKenzie Lateral File Cabinet" which was available for order my local furniture store (and online) for $600 – especially if it came pre-built.Advice on setup: allocate plenty of time. Follow the directions very carefully. The directions are very good, but you need to follow them extremely carefully and don't ignore any part. Every time something didn't seem right during the process - it was because I was doing something wrong.

This file cabinet is really nice looking and that's about where the pros for this unit end. The rods that hold the file folders up aren't totally stationary so the folders just fall off the rods. So instead, I decided I could just use it as a set of drawers. Wrong. The bottom of the drawer is about 1/8 inch plywood that slides into notches in the bottom of the drawer. I put a few books in the bottom of it....and it fell out. This happened with both of the drawers. We took the bottom drawer out to fix it and the inner slide that the drawer rides on when being pulled out came out of the outer slide that is screwed to the wall of the unit and all the tiny ball bearings fell out of it. I bought this unit because I loved the look and the reviews said it was nice and sturdy. The frame of the unit is, in fact, quite sturdy. But sturdiness alone does not a perfect unit make. If you're looking for a nice durable file cabinet that will hold your files really nicely, I'd say look somewhere else because this unit has only given me grief.

Un classeur de belle apparence et de bonne dimension. Une étoile en moins pour un gimmmick en plastic mal conçu, afin d'empêcher l'ouverture des deux tiroirs en même temps. Ue protection illusoire qui fonctionne environ une fois sur deux. Heureusement, ce système de blocage peut être supprimé sans difficulté. Compte tenu des dimensions du meuble, il n'est pas vraiment nécessaire.

Pretty happy with the look of this. Drawers move nicely. We have one broken part that we didn’t notice until the very end. It holds up the files so fairly annoying. Will contact the company and hopefully can get a replacement part. 4 stars mostly because it’s a bit pricey.

I will probably sell it, i find the colour is not really black, but more of a dark brown.it's not the best quality either but not bad for the price.

The product itself we have no issue. IT was the damage that occurred from the shipping. The top is cracked and Amazon service only takes full returns and won't allow a piece to be resent.We need a new top.

It was exactly according to description. Sturdy and it looks good. Sorry I'll post a pic if you ask. But I love it !!
