It's ceramic, but is very dainty. We have been very pleased with this beautiful set. It sits on our kitchen table all the time. and we rotate it with our other dishes. This set is used every other week.

This set stores in the included rack and has a very convenient carry handle on top. When loaded into the rack it will need a space eight inches wide, fifteen inches deep, and twelve inches high.
