It works if you use it right
When I purchased it I saw a lot of reviews talking about how it only worked if you hit it in the center, or how it just wasn't as loud as other pads when you struck it. I pulled it out of the package and plugged it into my TD-27, and started to see what the people were talking about. I was all set to write a bad review when a light bulb went on in my head, "Let's try and see what pad it's set for in the drum module". It turns out it was set to a two zone cymbal pad. All the sudden ... it worked as expected. The rejection of the pad is great. I hit the stand it was on several times and while it didn't trigger, the ride and tom attached to the stand did. I would feel comfortable putting it on one of my toms without worrying about it accidentally getting triggered from me hitting the drum. The build quality and design are well executed, and I don't really have a lot to complain about. I purchased this when there was a price drop, so I got it for around $80. If i had acted a day or two earlier it would have been closer to $70. The current price seems to be holding at $135 now, which is what it's cost when I've looked at them in the past. I think the Roland PD-8 is a better deal at retail prices, since it's a dual zone trigger, but at the lower price I purchased it for, it's a good deal. The versatile mounting system makes it a good fit for applications that the PD-8 wouldn't work as well for. It's a good trigger, just make sure to change your trigger type in the drum module.

Allowing the Roland BT-1 to Sound Awesome instead of Muted
In order to get the BT-1 sounding right with my Roland TD-27 I had to change the pad type after plugging it into my module to the BT-1 so the velocity curve would be correct. Otherwise, the sound is muted (as if the sound comes from another room). The following are the steps I took to make this happen. Have fun and rock on! 1. Press the SYSTEM button on your TD-27 or module. 2. Use the cursor to select TRIGGER and press ENTER. 3. Select PARAM then press ENTER 4.. Select PAD TYPE by turning the dial (I chose BT-1) 5. Strike your BT-1. Ensure you have the right pad. * note: BT-1 SENS can also be used for increased sensitivity (capturing lighter hits)

Good stuff, easy to use and roland quality
It is actually an accessory that is very worth buying to complement the battery. I have a 25 KV and it works perfectly, I did not need any additional installer, the volume is adjustable like any other drum or cymbal, it looks like a durable product and for the price it is more than I expected

First one had issues; replacement works great!
Update: Amazon replaced the faulty BT-1 with a new one—quick turnaround, easy exchange. The issues I experienced below are not present with the new one I received. It worked straight away with the settings in the manual. I upgraded my rating to 4 stars. Crossing my fingers this one holds up. I'll leave my original review below, for those who may experience similar issues. The technology is amazing when it works as designed, but you do need to read the short manual. If you're having problems, you might have a dud like I did. Try exchanging it. -- Only 30-40% of the (right side) of the pad triggered properly—the other side was barely audible. I'm using this on a Roland TD-9 module with MIDI out to trigger VSTs on my Mac—e.g., EZdrummer 3. I read that it's important to use a dual-trigger input, so I used the TD-9 'Aux' input with the included stereo cable. After trying several different settings on the module, other inputs, and different locations, I could not resolve the issue. Ultimately, I sent it back for exchange.

Awesome addition to drum kit!
I LOVE this extra trigger for my TDK 17! It’s been great as an added cowbell or tambourine sound. I installed it on the arm of my first Tom (just above the Tom pad) so it’s within easy reach but also doesn’t interfere with other drums or cymbals. Getting the pre-installed plastic piece off the bottom of the install bracket in the first place was a bit tricky but I found some online info or a YouTube video that helped. As far as functionality, the only caveat is that occasionally it takes a few “warm up” hits on the pad before the trigger starts working and I get sound from it, but this doesn’t happen often - and once I start playing during a given drum session it works consistently with no issues. Overall I’m very happy with my BT-1 and only wish I had more auxiliary inputs so I could add another one to my kit!

Handy way to add electronic triggering to your drum set.
A cost effective way to add a triggering pad to your electronic, hybrid or triggered drum set. You can mount it on the side of a standard snare drum or electronic snare pad. Easy mounting through a drum tension rod with attachment parts for standard rod-type mounts included. Plug the BT-1 into a trigger input on a V-Drums module or SPD-series percussion pad and trigger a variety of sounds. I use mine to trigger percussion sounds, such as a cowbell or wood block.

A great addition to your digital drum kit
I own a Roland TD-25K drum kit. The BT-1 mounted easily to the side of the snare in a couple of minutes. It's very solid and heavy - a quality product. Purchased it to be a cowbell, but you can program just about any of the sounds available in the drum module/brain. It's sensitive to how hard you strike it. Had occasional false trigger, but you can adjust the threshold in the TD-25 to fix that.
