Will this tool cut plastic and PVC pipe?

Yes, you can use the oscillating tool to cut PVC. Just make sure it is a general use blade or that it states for PVC/plastic.

I bought some cutting blades for mine and they don’t fit. How can I tell in advance whether a blade will fit?

The CMCE500B uses blades model # N570125 (Bi-Metal), N570126 (Precision Wood Blade). The blades may also be purchased as model CMAO202. Please contact CRAFTSMAN directly in case you have further questions.
