Great devotional/teaching book for teens/tweens
This is a great devotional for young teens or really nearly anyone new to the faith. Actually, it's one of the best "datily devotions" books I've ever checked out. I love that it develops topics over the course of the days rather than just meandering almost randomly from one topic to another like many devotionals, and the topics are even arranged logically into a cohesive whole. Even so, the individual daily readings stand alone just fine as well. But the logical structure makes it a good comprehensive introduction to Jesus and to the faith for anyone from kids as young as 8 or so (if they're good readers) to adults new to the faith. The only downside of the logical order is that it makes it work best if you start from the beginning, so I would recommend starting from the beginning even if you start it mid-year; just put a bookmark in to keep track of where you are instead of using the dates. The only thing I would have added would have been a recommended companion Bible passage for each lesson. Some have these, but not the majority. Each date has a passage it it drawn from printed in the book, but very short (just a 1-3 verses, usually). That is fine, but it would have been great to have a longer scripture reading for readers to read to go with the devotional reading. For my son, we'll just be doing a separate daily Bible reading program to do alongside this book for 2016. His little sister will get to enjoy it in 2017!

Wonderful! Interesting, but NOT fluffy and light on truth.
A+Great and interesting introductions leading to solid truths and application. I would recommend it to youth or families looking for some something to do as a family devotional, or as a tool to help students lead devotions.the only thing I wish it had was an index of topics and Scriptures. If it had an index of scriptures, wow, this great book would be even more useful.

A well done devotional explaining the truths about Christ
The author does a great job of explaining biblical doctrines to kids in interesting small bites accurately. Since I have a Bible degree and a teacher at my church, I'm a little picky about how doctrine is explained and the illustrations used. He covers doctrines like redemption, election, the mystery of the church, repentance, eternal security, etc. using a verse or two each day with a concise definition of the doctrine at the start of each new topic. He then takes several days to talk about the different aspects of each doctrine. The way he lays this out has led to good discussions in our family. I recommend it. I think it fits fourth graders and up.
