Nice case, works well with LEGO, HDMI port not necessary.
I purchased this case to protect my Raspberry Pi touch screen. The official screen has no back case and the edges are very thin so I imagine it would be easy to damage. I'll admit that I liked this case because of the Lego compatible features.Everything just fits. No fiddling, no adjustments. The plastic is solid and the base doesn't flex. It comes with base shown as well as two metal brackets that you can attach in place of the base then screw down to a surface. No instructions, but there is a video on their website. It comes with a Y-power cable. One micro USB female in, two cords with micro USB male connectors coming out. So you don't have to install the patch cables that comes with the screen between the Raspberry Pi and the screen's driver board. Minor issue, but one less set of wires to worry about. I might install the patch cables anyway so I don't have to rely on the Y-power cable. However I don't plan on removed the Y-power cable so it shouldn't be an issue. One niggling issue for me is that you can screw the Raspberry Pi board into the case, or use the snap in cover to hold it down. But you cannot do both. The snap in cover has pegs that fit through the mounting holes of the board then into the case. If you put a screw in the hole, then the peg cannot fit. Although if you screw it down, then you cannot remove the microSD card. Because the USB/Ethernet ports face out toward the side, that puts the card slot facing inward. Having the cover hold in the board means you don't need tools to access the card. I would like to have used a screw to prevent someone from easily removing the board since I plan on using this as an unattended display. I supposed I could cut one peg off and use a single security screw. Some reviews have been critical about not being able to access the HDMI port. It is true. The HDMI port of the Raspberry Pi is blocked by the snap clip of the cover. However it should be noted that you can only use the touchscreen OR the HDMI port. You cannot use both. This is not a fault with the case, it just is the way the Raspberry Pi works with the Raspberry Pi 7" touch screen. You also cannot switch between the two like a laptop. You would have to remove the screen's video ribbon cable from the Raspberry Pi. Currently, people are looking into a way to be able to use both or be able to software switch. However as of right now, dual monitor setup is not implemented in the operating system. It comes with the camera case as well as a 2x8 plate that can be used to connect the camera to the top of the case as shown in the product image. This is not shown in the photo of all the parts.I am happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend it for people looking for a case for the Raspberry Pi and the official screen.

Great case but still issues
This is a great case, well made and fits the screen perfectly. I love the tilting feature, the removable back plate and even the cut out for the heat sink. If you are purchasing the official Rasberry Pi screen then this is the only case you need. They really did a great job with this case. However, there is still room for improvement;Instructions were lacking. Even the video they have is basic. Your best bet is to search You Tube. I found a video of someone doing the case from start to finish. If you are designing a case from the ground up then why would you block the HDMI port? Why remove the option to use the HDMI? I like using the portable screen but I also like displaying to other displays via HDMI without having to take out the board. For this price, it shouldn't reduce functionality but it does.Suggestion, it doesn;t have speakers so how about an official speaker that uses the lego on the front of teh case to snap on. I'd buy that.

Awesome case - Only need 1 power supply if you use the GPIO header!
Used with a Raspberry Pi 3 and it works perfectly. Assembly is very easy, and there's a youtube video in case you have any questions.I didn't want to use the dual micro USB power splitting cable, so I used the red & black cables that came with the 7" screen (the screen is purchased separately from this case) & connected them to the GPIO header at positions 2 (5V power - red) and 6 (ground - black). That way I only need to connect power to the Raspberry Pi & the screen gets power from it. The only disadvantage to this is that these 2 cables protrude out about 1/2" from the GPIO header, but it doesn't prevent the base from folding all the way flat so it's not an issue for me.I also wanted to hold the Raspberry Pi in place with the screws & use the plastic cover for aesthetic purposes, so I cut off about 1/8" of the plastic tabs on the back side of the cover to account for the thickness of the screw heads. Not sure why it wasn't made this way by default but it's really easy to modify.

So many uses but...
If you need a case and something for your raspberry pi that is totally self contained it is ok. However, the setup limits some functions of the rpi and the camera case could use a few updates. The whole design is great as a secondary portable PC for car, a kid to learn or to setup a unique configuration. This all just points to its good for doing most things but nothing great.

Ok
