Beautiful, but doesn't scoop ice cream worth a damn
This ice cream scooper is truly a work of art; the first time I held it, it was like holding my newborn baby daughter for the first time - I was instantly taken with it. It feels amazing in your hand and it looks absolutely stunning. All polished stainless steel... gorgeous! For a moment I felt like the master of the ice cream universe.Then I tried to scoop some 365 organic coffee ice cream with it... eh.. not so much.If you are hoping to scoop out beautiful round scoops of ice cream to put on top of a sugar cone or something like that, you can pretty much forget it.I'm known around my house as the pro ice cream scooper and so I'm often called upon to dish out the ice cream when the going gets tough. Everyone likes how my scoops turn out really round. However, when attempting that trick with this scooper - as magical and as beautiful as it is - it just produces less of a scoop and more just sort of like an ice cream divot. If you want to see what I mean, just go and get yourself a large spoon from your kitchen drawer and you can basically duplicate how this thing works. It might be fine for a lot of people, but if you are hoping for more traditional round ball ice cream scoops like for a sugar cone (or anything much other than just small banana peel style curls of ice cream), then this scooper may not be the one for you.As elegant as it is, at almost $50, I just can't see the value when the ergonomics and functionality are so far off the mark.Back to the jungle it goes.... sadly.
