I purchased this topper to soften up a new extra firm mattress recently purchased from a cruise ship line. The "ensemble" consisted of a coil spring mattress, box spring and 2 inch detachable pillow top. Unfortunately, the mattress was not as comfortable as what we remembered on a recent cruise. I replaced the removable pillow top with this latex topper and the bed is now possibly the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on.It did take a couple of nights to get used to this topper. My first impression was that the topper was way to soft and deep. I went to bed expecting to wake up with an aching back or neck from lack of support, but it didn't happen. My wife also complained that it was a little difficult to turn over also because of the soft surface of the bed. We both quickly got accustomed it and by the end of the first week the topper no longer feels too thick. Although you can take your fist and push this (full 3" thick) topper almost flat, it is both very comfortable and supportive at the same time. The latex has a very buoyant and luxurious feel to it. I can lay on one side for hours where I would usually toss and turn.I didn't come up the $419.00 without first trying a popular $79.00 memory foam top sold on Amazon. My wife loved it (although she likes the latex better) and my son who ended up with it is crazy about it. At 190 lbs I "bottomed out" the memory foam and would wake up in agony. We considered buying a better quality 3 inch 4 or 5lb. topper but I am not crazy about the "sinking in the mud" feeling of memory foam and I don't like what little extra heat it generates (ok -so I turn my pillow over 5 times a night to get to the cool side).Bottom line- Would highly recommend this topper for a firm mattress in good condition. I doubt that it would fix a sagging mattress and this is a lot of money for an experiment. Go with the 3 inch topper if you have a firm mattress and want some major league comfort. If you just need a little extra cushioning, the 2 inch topper should be fine.Notes - You will find less expensive "all natural" latex mattress toppers and some that are returnable where these are not. They are probably the less expensive "Dunlop Processed" latex and not the premium "Talalay" latex. This is the same top layer you will find on most "top of the line" latex mattresses. Unlike memory foam, there is VERY LITTLE odor from this product and it is hard to imagine that anyone would find it offensive. Ours had a very faint odor that my wife says reminded her of cake batter. We used the topper immediately and the odor disappeared completely in about 3 days. As far as the unfortunate reviewer who had a major problem with the smell of this topper, they are probably one of a very rare few with a latex allergy. The irony is that Latex is often recommended for allergy sufferers as it is considered hypo-allergenic.

This latex foam topper is truly ideal for those seeking the perfect combination of firm and supportive. You will never sink into it like memory foam and you won't crush and flatten it like polyurethane foam. It is very good support for those with joint, back and or/circulation issues IMO. It is NOT going to alleviate neck problems or cervical issues. For that, you will need a firm support pillow that will not raise you too high over this foam pad. The pad comes with a very nice cover that holds it tightly in place so its not going to move very much. I never noticed any jello jiggle to this material and we have the queen. It does come glued at a seam if you buy a queen or larger. The glue STINKS and needs several days to air out somewhere once you open the package. If you are chemically sensitive, put it in another area of the house, shut a door, open a window and let it air out a couple days and it's good to go. My husband has had neck surgery with a plate, has lower back problems and circulation issue in one leg....he sleeps great on this. He also uses a very FLAT FIRM neck pillow. The company is very responsive and caring when you need to contact them. Highly recommended. We would choose this mattress pad over ANY other we have ever used or seen. We've gone through dozens of beds and hundreds of pillows trying to find the support we need. We both have orthopedic issues and while this won't fix them, it will help you find a way to sleep comfortably at night.

This is a very comfortable topper. My mattress is extra firm (rock hard is more accurate) and I was waking up every morning completely sore, especially my hips.I hesitated buying this one only because of the price. It seems high for a topper but not wanting to get a whole new mattress I decided to go for it. I like it very much. It's soft and comfortable and my hips don't hurt when I wake up in the morning so for me it's worth it. Plus natural latex toppers are supposed to last for quite a few years.The most important thing for me is that I'm not sleeping on toxic materials and with latex I have that peace of mind. THERE IS NO CHEMICAL SMELL. I am very chemically sensitive so this is a good option for me. I was able to take this out of the box and use it the same night. When I first opened it I put my nose right up next to it and did smell a sweet smell kind of like cake batter as another reviewer said. It was not at all unpleasant and went away pretty quickly.I should mention that it arrived with a nice thick protective cover folded up at the bottom of the box. I haven't put that on yet because I like to wash new fabrics beforehand.I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 only because of the high price and because there is a seam. It doesn't affect the comfort at all in any way and I've read that all natural tallalay toppers in queen size or higher will have one but I think it should be mentioned so people don't think it's some sort of defect.Very comfortable topper. I recommend it!

THIS HAS A HORRIBLE SMELL THAT DOES NOT GO AWAY LIKE THEY SAY IT WILL. IT FILLS THE WHOLE HOUSE WITH A ACRID STENCH. IT MADE MY EYES BURN, MY NOSE AND THROAT SWELL UP. THEY DO NOT CARE, AND ONLY HAD THIS TO SAY... "Latex Mattress Toppers are considered a personal item and are not returnable and do not have a 30 day satisfaction guarantee." BUYER BEWARE. THE ITEM WAS ALSO TWO WEEKS LATE IN DELIVERY. DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM.
