The fishing line sent to cut with is too thick, too short, not very sharp. Had to use a metal hand cutter with it instead, until I find the proper gauge and temper of stainless steel wire to attach. Also, the line doesn't go all the way down to the bottom of the soap logs very well, as it sits on the table, same level as everything else. I may try setting the cutter up on something that's elevated some, but have to find something that's large enough to support the cutter, entire soap log, and have a little room to spare around it. I do like the blade in the bottom for planing the soap bars, though.

I bought this specifically to cut soap. I'm a hobby soaper, but I do give my soap out as gifts to friends and family. I wanted them to have a professional look to it and knew from experience that I hand cut like a drunk with one arm and one eye (yes, it's that bad). It's a bit sticky to move the measuring thing back and forth, but I consider that a good thing, because then I know it won't move when i'm cutting. I don't use the string it comes with, and i haven't quite figured out the planer on the bottom, yet. It fits both straight and crinkle cutters, so i'm happy.

Pros: Great price, seems sturdy and solid.Cons: The walls are too short for a standard loaf of soap so you have to eyeball where the blade will go and hope you hit it right otherwise the top of your soap will have random cut marks in it. Also, the measurement markings are inaccurate when tested against a tape measure so measure for yourself to guarantee accuracy in bar size.Overall, I will use it for now, but I wouldn't buy it again. Look for one with taller walls.

It was not as perfect as I was dreaming. First off the inside dimension of depth is not quite enough to fully accomidate my 2.5" block of soap, if a little less batter in the mold to make a 2.2" loaf it works. Secondly: the two wing nuts don't hold the sliding measuring gauge down tight enoughf, it would work better with if there were catches about1/8" slide the gauge into and then lock it down with the wing nuts. Thirdly: the shaving blade on the bottom side of the box is not nearly as useful as I imagined, I do a better job with a vegetable peeler. Finialy: not shown in the picture here is a cut out for a bubble level but then level tube is not included, and a cut out for a for a piece of fishing string witch is included.

Item was Soap cutting fence was cracked when I received the item. I think the design where the wingnuts are located could be improved. The rest of the box appeared to be pretty well constructed, but without the fence guide, cutting uniform soap is impossible.

Both of the screws that hold the planing blade will not tighten down. I think the holes were drilled too deep or something. The planer was the main thing I wanted, so I am very disappointed. I'll try putting in longer screws and if that doesn't work, I will return it as defective. The unit itself is fairly well made, but that doesn't solve the problem of the planer not working.

My shipment arrived on time and in great condition. I used this cutter for the first time and found it quite easy to use. I'm sure there are other things I need to know about what I can do with this product, but it comes with no instructions. I suppose I'll just have to figure it out.

It's well made but there is no blade to cut the soap included. I purchased thinking I would be all set and able to cut right away. Sadly I have to buy a blade now.
