You can start planing this with just the starter set and have a good game with real solid miniatures, the add on lances add solid combinations of classic mechs. They look great once you paint them up.

The new designs of the mechs are what brought me back to Battletech. The miniatures are durable and need very little clean up.

Great to see the law suit is over... Classics are back!! The molds are clean, and require no glue to use. For the old schoolers, the Rifleman has different sized barrels on the arms. When compared to the cost of metal minis for BTech, these are a great deal.

This is a boxset containing 4 mech minatures, Alpha Strike cards and pilot cards.This can be played with "Battletech a game of armored combat" classic boxset OR using "Alpha Strike Commander's edition" rulebook, which have 2 alternate rule sets.It has Warhammer, Rifleman, Wasp and Phoenix Hawk miniatures.Miniatures are very sturdy. They are 4 cm tall.The ressemblance of classic anime mecha style is amazing and cool.Warhammer was the mech that appeared in the old 1984 starter boxset, so it brings memories.If you want a pristine mint condition package, the seller does not deliver it in a box, but an envelope.
