Great product, will be traveling to different states and countries so definitely needed something others can't steal my gas while I'm out hiking

With gas prices as high as they are I fell victim to somebody siphoning gas out of my old Yukon. Remembering the gas lines of the late 70s I remembered the locking gas cap. A simple enough product that is very effective.Pro: it fit as described. When I installed it the locking mechanism Functioned as expected.Con: this morning I drove to the gas station to fill up my car only to have the locking mechanism not release the cap. I inserted the key and as I tried to unlock it all I heard was a ratcheting sound similar to what you would hear if you were over tightening a cap. Fortunately I had enough gas to return home where I was able to use a pair of channel locks to squeeze the outer shell so that the inner mechanism would grip the tines and I was able to get the cap off. I can’t imagine if this it happened while my wife was out and about driving the vehicle. Odds are she would’ve had to drive it to a shop where they would’ve charged a pretty penny to remove it.Buyer beware.Now to be fair I have not contacted the company so I cannot speak to their customer service, however I do intend to do so. If I find satisfactory results I will add a follow up to this review.

Purchased for our vehicle after several cars in the area had been drained of fuel. Works as needed, would say you must insure that you tighten the cap well or your check engine light may come on.

Works on GMC Yukon XL Denali insofar as not causing light to come on or truck to not run… But it’s a huge pain to unlock; would never buy this again. I even spent more than the gas cap cost on a minimalist keychain so I could get the key into the cap. No, my hands are of small or normal size. If you have the gas key on your main/only key ring, you wont have enough room to insert it and turn the key. Plus you leave your fob in the gas area. So… I took the key off, finally got it in the cap keyhole and left it in while unlocking. It promptly fell to the ground at the gas station and the lock core fell out, leaving springs and chucks all over the gas and oil soaked cement. I picked up what I could see but it was a loss. Went back to old gas cap and will look for a better lock option.

I live in a city with high theft. Once after I bought this- I found a gas can beside my truck with the door open. The thieves came back another night though and used probably a screw driver to pry it off in pieces and siphon my gas.
