Jiffy Seed Starting Tray Kit - 36 Cell Germination Tray, Portable - 2 Pack, 72 Pellets - Plastic

Okay, I admit that I am grow from seed deficient...being kind to myself. I purchased these and the seeds I wanted to grow, hoping for yet not expecting much to happen. Well - what is happening, is crazy! This is not a joke, nor an exaggeration...the red morning glory seeds literally sprouted and grew an inch and a half, just 3 days after I planted them in this thing! The Mexican sunflower sprouts grew half an inch in 3 days, as well! Freaked me out - I woke up, and there they were! I had no idea that could even happen. Also - my marigold seeds are almost 3 inches after 5 days, the jalapenos and serrano pepper seeds are just now sprouting (5 days). At 5 days, I am already having to transplant the morning glory and sunflower babies, because they are too tall to have the lid not smash them. I measured the tallest one, and it's 4 1/2 inches tall. Maybe I just got freakishly good seeds??? The only Con this product is that the lid needs to be taped on, or at least both of mine did. They absolutely do not fit properly. Yeah, the tray is a bit thin-ish and wobbly, if you aren't careful to pick it up gently and slide your hand under it to keep it stable. But be gentle, use common sense and tape the sides of the lid, because it is SO worth the price and results. :)

Perfect for an inexperienced gardener! Has simple directions! Container is sturdy even with all peat pellets rehydrated. Lid does not fit well but used tape to secure amd was fine All the seeds I planted were germinating within 10 days. Seeds I planted said usual time is 2 to 3 weeks. Very satisfied. Was so easy I am planted more seeds instead of buying those 4/6 packs of plants!

I searched Amazon a bit for seed starting kits. Some were more expensive, some needed peat pellets, and some just looked inferior. I chose the Jiffy kit as it had everything needed to start. I was excited at first as I slowly added warm water per the instructions. The peat pellets started swelling up and after about 20 minutes, the pellets were ready to seed. I started with only a dozen out of the kit as that's all the seeds I had (2 per pellet). I had too much water in the pan and lifted to drain off in the sink. I was a little disappointed to find water under the tray, so it has a small leak. I put a wrap of aluminum foil around the pan, but will use a spray sealant when I'm done for the season for next year. I added my seeds and placed on a growing heating pad, and placed the lid on. Well it is a lid, and it is kind of on, but it does not slide down into place. It rests on the top of the pan, edges to edges, not a snap in type fit like the picture. Maybe I'll fuss with it later, but for now good enough.

Great for starting seeds at home added water and in no time the compressed peat had fully expanded. I just wish that the tops would fit better mine were kinda warped, but the product still worked fine.

I love these trays. I use them every season to start my seeds. They are a life saver for me! I wish the plastic was a little sturdier, but as long as you keep them flat and not moving around constantly they are great. They certainly hold a lot of pods!

This is my first purchase of these. The peat pellets did as described, so no problem there. But, as others have mentioned, the clear plastic dome doesn’t fit. No matter which way you turn it, it pops out on one side and leaves a gap. Both domes in this pack of two did the same thing. So I did the best I could, lining it up on 3 sides. I left the last side propped up on the outside edge and then put some weight on the on it to help close the gap. Have no idea if this will work. Definite design flaw! Maybe the dome should push down on the outside of the tray instead of the inside edge. Unless these seeds sprout as planned, I probably won’t purchase this brand again.

My seeds took off like crazy.

We used these for tomatoes and peppers 🫑. All are still growing.
