For a clean, smooth shave. No irritation.
1st Review--July 2018: I had been using Norelco for 3 years now, and it has started to wear out, even with new blades. After reading so many good reviews I decided to give it a try and get it. I got a very close and clean shave during my first time, something I never got from Norelco even with new blades. This shaver cuts your facial hair very closely and precisely without leaving any irritation marks on your skin. The blades spin much faster but quietly than the ones from Norelco. After shaving, I washed it water to clean the hair from inside the shaver. Being waterproof the shaver worked just fine. I highly recommend it. 2nd Review--October 2019: Rotary Shaver: The SweetLF rotary shaver is the best product I have used so far and will keep on using for years. I used many shavers-- manual single-use ones such as Gillette, Gillette pro glide, Gillette pro glide max, remmington, phillips norelco but none of these shavers whether manual or electric DO NOT compete with SweetLF's rotary shaver. Having used over 2 years and expecting to use many more to come, I recommend this shaver over any others in the market. Most shavers such as Phillips are overpriced and they eventually start to give poor shaving experience over time, but SweetLF keeps on servicing without any failure. From its excellent waterproof motor to quick 1-hour charge, it gives a clean smooth shave every time. I started using electric shavers because 1) I hate to get my hand messy with shaving cream and water while using manually 2) I get post-shaving irritation with minor cuts everytime I shave. However, SweetLF's shaver never gave me any sort of irritation or cuts. Replacement Header (Blades): SweetLF's replacement heads are matchless to any other replacement heads. As they advertise these heads do not cause any rust or discoloration after frequent use two to three times a week for a year. I can easily keep on using the same one for next 6 months and I bet it will keep on giving me a clean shave. I found the price is affordable and well-suited for all types of customers who are looking to look professional and crisp without spending a fortune.

Don't let the low price scare you away from this high quality unit.
While a lifetime cream and blade shaver, I considered the purchase of an electric razor as a convenient shaving alternative while RVing and vacationing. My search began with local retailers and big box stores, and concluded with the SweetLF purchase through Amazon. Admittedly, the choice was based more on pricing than anything else, but with the support of mostly positive reviews, I decided to take a chance with this low-priced product. Price - I made my purchase at $29.96. Given the range of retail pricing for "name" products - 3-5 times this price - it was hard to believe that a product priced this low could actually be of an acceptable quality. With Prime free shipping, this price point was the lowest by far of any other positively-reviewed alternative. And, since I was making this purchase as an occasionally-used alternative, my expectations for the product were modest given the low price. Performance - My shipment arrived in August. I charged the unit and packed it away in the motorhome for use during the remainder of the summer. Several camping trips and many shaves later, it is now in my house for the winter, having risen from its low-expectation, occasional-use origins to become my daily shaver. Being my first electric razor, I really have no basis of comparison for the real bottom line: how does it shave? Some reviewers have said that the shave is not that close. I found that, while not as close as a blade, the shave was close enough for me, and, for my wife. So, it does its job well. It holds a charge very well. I just recharged the shaver from its original charge in August. While I haven't used it every day, I have used it a lot - maybe 50-60 shaves - and it still had a 20% charge left. Impressive. I was concerned about being able to keep it clean. But, being that it is waterproof, a quick rinse after every shave has kept it clean and ready for its next use. Overall, I have been very impressed with this shaver's performance, and have no negative comments regarding same. Quality - Overall, I have been very impressed. It's a nicely engineered unit. Its looks very nice, has a good weight to it, and feels good in the hand. Fit and finish is top notch - meeting or exceeding that of its more expensive name brand alternatives. Having used the unit for a while now, its still looks new, and I expect many years of service out of this unit. Value - The price/performance ratio is really off the rails! Low price and high performance. Isn't this what most of us look for, but too seldom receive?

Good shaver, especially for the price
I've used this for about 10 days and am happy with it, especially for the price. I had been using the Philips 9000 which costs 5 times more and even the replacement head cost more than this whose shaver. I do feel this one gives a closer shave than any of the Philip rotary shavers I've had in recent years. I have read a number of reviews that say this one gives a very comfortable shave. My experience is a little different. It did seem to be a bit rougher on my skin, but I think I'm adjusting to it. It reminds me a little of when I use a blade which is less than yearly. That causes some irritation too. I also like what I guess I'll call the "well". That's the part beneath the blades. On the Philips, if you didn't clean it regularly, it would start to back up into the blades in just a few days. With the deep well, even over a week of shaving barely begins to fill it up. I'm sure you should clean it regularly, but I just wanted to test this factor. As for how well it holds up, some have complained but I haven't used it nearly enough to find out. One other thing, several places it refers to charging it using an adapter that is 5 volts output or less. This seemed odd to me. I thought if you had a more capable adapter, a device connected to it would still only draw what it needed. So this makes me wonder if the shaver has some potential issue, like maybe not properly limiting what it draws. And, if so, does this account for some people having problems if they use an adapter than can output more than 5 volts! I'm updating by adding that I really like the built in trimmer. Too often shavers have resorted to removing one part to insert a separate trimmer. It is just much more convenient to have it already built in!

A long-time Norelco user
My uncle gave me my first Norelco shaver in 1952. I still have it and it still works. The picture is one just like it. Since then Iโve had 10 Norelco shavers. The last one cost $300 and itโs a good shaver, but new blades cost more than $50 and they need new blades every year so Iโve spent more than $500 on this shaver in the past 5 years. Philips, which bought Norelco, a Dutch company, years ago, recently lost its battle to protect by patent the triangular three blade design. The original Norelco for several years had just two blades visible in the picture. Three does work better. So if you look at the picture with the two shavers, the one on the right is my Philips 9170XL. These sell for more than $200 on eBay and theyโre not made any more. It still works, holds a charge and provides a decent shave, but its blade replacements are around $50. Itโs also relative heavy, at 7.5 ounces. On the left is the Chinese SweetLF. It weighs 5.5 ounces. You know the price and you also know the price of new blades: $15. So the question is: Is the Chinese knock-off any good? The short answer is that it is. It provides a shave equal in quality to the latest Philips 9000 series shavers. And itโs an IPX7 waterproof shaver. Like all washable shavers its blades are magnetically driven so no water can get to the motor and the blade compartment is sealed. Since the loss of patents, the triangle design shaver makers have caused the prices to drop by more than two-thirds, so if youโve been hesitant because of price, now is the time to switch. I canโt speak to the longevity of any of the other new models, but the fit and finish of this one is the equal of Philips in every way. Over the years Iโve collected all the power cords, but Iโve had to buy new ones now and then. The SweetLF uses a micro-USB and charges in 1 hour. Another problem solved. Pros: Cost, shaving quality, cost of replacement blades, micro-USB I hour charging, washable. Cons: The raising a lowering of the blades uses a different system that the Philips, but Iโve never used that feature much because I canโt tell the difference, but I set it for the lowest level and forget about it. No regular shaver does a great job under the nose and mouth corners. For those areas I use a CleanCut ES412 still made by Seiko in Japan and I recommend it.

It works well but doesn't last long.
I bought two of them so far. I have a thick, tough beard. The last one I bought on December 10th. Today, April 25th, the shave head won't close. Some tiny plastic piece broke off. The blades are heavily worn down too. I contacted the company about getting another one. We'll see how that goes. It's hard to know what to do about shavers because often expensive ones are lousy. It was best when Norelco had replacement blades made in Germany but once they stopped that their replacement blades are garbage. To me, the best way to shop for an electric razor is to go by highest customer rating. Often there's not much correlation between cost and quality. On this razor the charge lasts a long time. It's a close, comfortable shave but not so close that I can skip a day shaving. The razor is good enough but I'm not thrilled. I'm more concerned about trying to get a better razor and getting something that I hate.

Exceptional Value For Price
On the surface, you might expect me to write a 3 star review or worse. The product English isn't so great. The blades do rough up your face every time you get a new one - and I've done this three times now, and I don't have particularly sensitive skin. I have just gotten my third in 13 months; these models seem to last about 6-7 months and then develop electrical issues. (The shaver randomly turns itself on or off, and the indicator lights start blinking oddly, or failing to turn on.). USB charging is a plus, but the corrosion that inevitably forms on the power leads starts messing up your cables when you go to charge them later. Can't fault the shave on new blades though - better than straight edge. So why do I love this shaver so much? SweetLF product support. They honor their 15 month guarantee, and it has been absolutely painless to make a claim when there's an issue, and then work with their support reps to get a replacement or equivalent sent to me. In the first case they sent me a replacement model for free before I had even managed to get the defective one to UPS to ship it back. In the second, they couldn't replace the model I had purchased (no more in stock), so they had me buy a new one and issue a big discount on it to make it almost free. I used to be a fan of Phillips and Norelco, but lately all of these rotary shavers are being made by the same factories in China, and they all go bad in less than a year. Things claiming to be water proof aren't, parts made of cheap plastic break, electronics short in water where frankly a mechanical switch really should be used instead. These SweetLF shavers cost about 1/3 the price of the mainline brands, and come with a warranty that's about 80% as long. I took a chance on this brand a year ago expecting it to be a little rough, and I'm absolutely thrilled that I did. The shaver will probably fail you - the company that makes it will not. Oh and the rough shave for the first week is fine - you get over it.

Stay Away! Stopped Charging in 3 months. SweetLF does not honor their warranty,
Original Review: I've used electric shavers for 30 years. I've had Norelco, Braun, Remington, Panasonic, and likely one or two other oddball brands here and there. This was a mistake, but Thank you Amazon! They knew what I needed. Norelco gives a very good shave, no doubt. But their new flexible head assembly doesn't hold up. I have a very expensive Braun, but I've never been a big fan of foil shavers. My previous Remington's always chewed up my face. The last time my Norelco head broke, Fry's Electronics wanted $45 for a replacement, while a whole new Remington was only $30. I got lucky with that little $30 shaver. It worked well, didn't pull hair too badly unless it was really long, and left my face a little burning and irritated, but nothing visible. A little Afta was sufficient to soothe the burn. That shaver lasted about 4 years, which must be a record for me. I was getting ready for work Friday when the shaver suddenly began running very fast. I turned it off immediately and examined it. There was nothing visibly wrong, but when I tried to turn it back on, all it would do was move in little blips. It was dead. I stopped by Fry's on my way home and they had only ONE shaver on the shelf, a $200 Norelco. Too rich for me, so I went to Amazon. I filtered my display to Remington, looking for a similar model. They all had such poor reviews except for this Sweet LF. I "thought" I was purchasing a Remington Sweet LF. When I received it, there was nothing Remington listed. Amazon just snuck this one in there on me. With over eight thousand reviews averaging nearly five stars, it can't be too bad. I ran other reviews on Sweet LF from professionals like Shaver Guru, and others. They all said the same thing. Sweet LF is a relative newcomer to this market that competes with the best of the name brands at budget prices. Then I tried it... OMG! It was the best shave ever! Smooth, close, comfortable, with NO irritation. No need to soothe my skin with Afta. At this point, I had not shaved in three days. My Remington would have yanked the hair out by its roots like a wax job, and it would have taken half an hour. The Sweet LF thought nothing of it, effectively cutting each hair as if it were a day-old stubble. Longevity and battery life remain to be seen but so far I am beyond impressed. And the shaver isn't even broken in yet. It takes one or two weeks for the shaver to break in and the beard to adjust. So this incredible, wonderful, unbelievable shave is only going to get better. Guys, get this shaver. You won't be disappointed. Even if you're not really in the market for a new shaver, at $40 what have you to lose? Put your $200 Norelco on that top shelf in your closet as a spare. Amazon, I can't thank you enough for slipping this little gem into my search. Now I can't wait to get ready for work tomorrow. You've made my Monday. UPDATE - In just 3 months the shaver will no longer take a charge. I contacted SweetLF for a warranty replacement. They make you jump through so many hoops and waste your time. I have given them what they asked for can they reply with the same questions I've already answered. They do not stand behind their product. Update - 5/11/20 After fighting with them, and posing negative reviews on two sites, they agreed to send a replacement provided I update my review. I received the replacement and wanted to wait for a few charge cycles in case the first was a simple defect. Lily has been hounding me daily to update and has now started replying to the negative review. It is to the point now that I will need to block her email. As of now, the shaver was awesome for 3 charge cycles. No one should have to go to this much trouble for a shaver! Even if the replacement shaver lasts two years, I will never give them five stars again. I will update again after a few cycles.

Great product, great price, great customer service
Updated 21 Nov 2018: 1 year later and the replacement shaver continues to work flawlessly, with every day use. No battery problems and I have not had to replace the shaver blades yet. I would add another star, if I could! I have been using this razor for 6 months, and I am very pleased with both the razor and the customer service. The razor does as good a job as the expensive higher-end Norelco razors and a much better job than the lower-end Norelco razors (which still cost more than the SweetLF razor), which I have previously owned and used for 30 years. I prefer to use a "dry" razor and the SweetLF works for this purpose - no pulling of hairs nor abrading of skin (unlike the lower-end Norelco razors). As with the Norelco razors, it does take a few days for the SweetLF razor to adjust to your face, but, after that adjustment period, it provides a smooth, close shave. The 5 level battery LEDs make it easy to know when the razor's battery is getting low (a feature sadly lacking from the Norelco razors I've owned); the micro USB recharging is both more convenient and much faster than Norelco's low-current product-specific AC chargers. The SweetLF razor battery charge seems to last approximately the same as previously owned Norelco razors. The SweetLF razor feels lighter than the Norelco razor, but the build is solid and feels right in the hand. I did encounter a strange problem with the razor, after 4 months (the power switch was behaving erratically) , but SweetLF customer support sent me a new replacement razor, after I mailed the original razor to their US support address. I was pleasantly surprised by the quick response to my initial email to report the problem - I received a response within 24 hours. This response time turned out to be the rule, not the exception. I was kept informed about the status of my return, every step of the way, and each follow-up email I sent received a response within 24 hours. There were no arguments, and no excuses made - just a sincere apology for any inconvenience to me. Note: I wish I could give an extra star for the cardboard box, in which the SweetLF razor was packaged. Unlike typically flimsy cardboard product boxes or disposable plastic bubble packaging, this box can actually be reused for storage - of the razor, or other things.
