I like the Quick release so I don't get any metal slivers.

I recommend this product for anyone who is having construction done on their property. The pictures show the debris I collected after my roof was replaced. The roofing crew did a hasty walkthrough with their magnets, leaving these hidden hazards in my lawn. My children or pets surely would have been injured if I hadn't purchased this product for my own peace of mind.

This thing is awesome. I shoe horses and use this to pick up wrung off nails. I first seen one at the farrier school I went to and spent a couple years looking for one like it with no luck. This one showed up here on Amazon and I jumped on it. When I got it I put a 1" socket on the ground and it picked it up from at least 3 inches away. Have been using it for over a month now shoeing and it works great. The best feature is pulling the handle and it releases everything...no more picking at my 3" homemade round magnets.***Update 6 Dec 2016***Still works great but I found an additional use. After a big fabrication project which required A LOT of cutting and grinding I had the light bulb moment and went to the barn a grabbed this to pick up littarly a 5 gallon bucket load of steel tailings. It worked so good I only use shop air and the shop vac to clean off equipment now. I may have to buy another one.

How do you like my headline? Duh, huh? I live in a sandy area so the magnet does quite well being dragged around. The release mechanism is very basic and so I find myself just using my hands to pull the nails/screws and bit of ferrous metal off the surface instead of tugging on the handle -which does not work well. Overall though I love being able to clean up the site and prevent flat tires from stray nails and screws. Literally pick up hundreds of these in mere minutes.

The other day I lost an allen screw 1/8" x 1/4" long in the dirt. This magnet found it in seconds. It's great for picking up old nails that have been laying around for 40 years. It's a pretty strong magnet for its weight.

I was a bit skeptical about purchasing this but I can honestly say it is worth it's weight in "nails"! I had used a 36" magnet with wheels around my house after replacing the wood shingles on my house and although it picked up thousands of tiny little nails it had a tendency of dropping the nails back in the lawn due to the grass and higher spots in the yard. With this magnet however I could gently swing back and forth thru the grass and compensate for the high spots. If you want something to use in the grass I would highly recommend this magnet. For something such as an alley way or road you may want something larger but this unit will definitely do the job.

It works as expected, doesnt blow me away with its power but it is strong enough. You can drag it and it seems to hold onto everything without it falling off like the cheap one I used with wheels. Wish they made one like this but bigger. I've collected over a gallon of nails with it so far.

My Dad had a burn pile and wanted to clean it up with lots of nails/door hinges etc . After reading the reviews I decided to try this one. He called me and told me he had picked up half a 5 gallon bucket and I thought he was exaggerating until I saw the bucket. He even found a lost grubbing hoe under the dirt with it. I walked under an old barn with it and it just pulls nails out of the loose dirt and surface of hard dirt and not just nails but old bolts and nuts and very small metal fragments that has chipped off of stuff over the years. It doesn't feel too heavy either. You will get your moneys worth out of this.
