Could this projector be compatible with a macbook pro? with the vga cable? i know it’s compatible with “laptops” but will it be compatible with apple?

Definitely.It can be compatible with a macbook pro.You can connect your notebook and projector with the hdmi(included in the package)  or vga cables. Then select the corresponding video source on the M18 projector.

Question 2

I have this projector set up roughly 14.5' away from an 80" screen and can't get the image small enough. what size screen do I need at that distance?

According to your situation. 14.5' can project 130' screen. If you don't do any scaling, the 80" screen will needs about 8.5 feet.
If your distance cannot be changed, we recommend that you use the image reduction function of the image M18, which can be reduced to 75~100%.
So using 75% reduction, it would take approximately 10.8 feet in a straight line.

Question 3

What height can the projector be placed when projecting from 11 ft and mounting on ceiling .?  I am unable to get the full 100” image

Thank you very much for choosing our jimtab M18 HD projector.
If you install it on the ceiling, the projector can reach 100" image at a distance of 11 feet. There is no requirement for the placement height of the projector.
You only need to change the settings of the menu--images--projection direction-to "hanging projection".

Question 4

Can this be configured to turn on when mains power is turned on?  I'd like it to start when a home automation system toggles mains on to it.

The JIMTAB M18 currently unable to turn on the projector when the power is turned on, you need to use the remote control or turn on the projector switch button.
