Good tarp for hammocking
I use this tarp to cover my hammock while hammock camping. It is huge, as the name implies, and had complete coverage over my hammock so that not a drop of water hit me during a bad thunderstorm. It's size is a bit annoying when trying to pack it though I would rather have that than be soaking wet while trying to sleep. It does have a thermal side so that some heat is reflected back though this isn't really significant unless it is put underneath the hammock or used in a true survival situation since more heat will be lost to the breeze underneath the hammock. It includes everything needed to set it up including stakes and ropes to attach to the corners and spine. All parts are of good quality and are durable enough for a backpacking trip in rocky terrain where stakes are pounded into(not through) boulders but don't bend.I have use other tarps that were less effective (especially the tube tarp) in keeping off rain than this one. This is by far my favorite tarp as it can be used as a square or diamond over the hammock. It also is able to cover two hammocks when they are stacked.

Light, but not ultralight. Good as ground sheet or tarp
I purchased this as a ground sheet as I already have a Chinook brand 10x12 silnylon tarp as a shelter /roof . This is actually almost double the weight of the Chinook, the material is also double the strength and durability. . That's the payoff, something being used as ground sheet against the dirt rocks sticks and such needs to be a bit more durable. . I'm quite happy, apron 10x10 , feels like lightweight backpack material as opposed to really thin silnylon like many ultralight tarps are made of. The sewing and loops are kinda cheezy snd limited, corners and mid way are all they have. ..I always add my own grommets and tabs so for me it's no big deal. Reflective coating is really the big reason I picked this over many others, it's a measure of additional versatility that comes in handy, nothing beats reflecting the campfires radiant heat like a lean too using something like this.. similarly coated as the SOL brand tarps .. works ok, not as good as a space blanket but certainly better than no reflective coating. I'll test its waterproof -Ness in a few weeks and update accordingly, a quick shower test seems to lead me to believe that it will be just fine as is.. after feild use I usually treat all tarps with silicone and mineral spirits mixture anyways to guarantee that they are truly waterproof but I'll hold off till I put some miles on it. Moral of the story , not bad for 30 bucks, little bit on the heavy-duty side as far as material goes but that's not a big deal I'm not counting every gram and will take a few ounces of weight gain for the peace of mind that the gear will hold up to use. Hope this preliminary review adds a bit of insight.

Poor tarp = no sleep
For $30, I was worried about buying a pig in a poke, as I'm very particular about tarp quality. Poor tarp = no sleep, no matter how good your bag or foam pad is. It turns out, this is an incredible buy. Ok, a little expensive. But the packaging is neat, it comes with rope (which admittedly is on the low quality side; but you can use your own if you want. And the material is very strong. I have not yet tried it in cold weather; I expect it might be like other materials, and be somewhat brittle, but if I get a chance to test it this winter, and remember to come back here, I'll be sure to add a note on its performance there. A word of caution: when you open the tarp, pay close attention to the folds so that you can fold again to put it away. For me, I think I came up with half, half, half, half, third. I suggest you write that sequence down on the tarp or the tarp bag so that on your trip home, you're not trying a hundred permutations to get it into the bag.

This is a fantastic product. The tarp is totally waterproof
This is a fantastic product. The tarp is totally waterproof, and stood up to a rain storm very easily. The 4 stakes are the standard orange ultra light ones you can find at Walmart and it comes with 6 lengths of cordage.I used the 4 stakes to anchor the tarp, and the remaining 2 lengths of cordage to make sure the tarp stayed where I wanted it to be over my hammock. I added 2 of the Walmart stakes to the bag to round out the kit, just in case I bend one or two beyond repair out in the field. This fit perfectly over my OuterEQ Portable Parachute Nylon Fabric Travel hammock and kept everything beneath it totally dry. This is a welcome edition to my camping kit, and I will probably order another one of my bugout bag. The only other addition I made to the bag was four of the small carabiners. The reason for this is so I could hang the tarp bag from the ridge line, along with my boots. All of this stuff fits in the bag with room to spare.

when I got it I thought it had more tie out points so I was disappointed but the mistake was mine
Its OK, when I got it I thought it had more tie out points so I was disappointed but the mistake was mine. The tarp itself is pretty big, it's got 6 tie outs as shown in the photo upon re-viewing it. The tarp looks pretty heavy duty, one side is reflective, one side is colored. Will probably work really well for a lot of applications but it doesn't pack down as well as i'd like for my backpacking kit.

The overall quality of it is amazing and durable
This tarp held up to 100kmh winds over a weekend camping trip and kept me well secure in my hammock underneath. The overall quality of it is amazing and durable, material is breathable and lightweight.I would suggest 2 things to upgrade on this product and can be easily done. The D-rings that hold the pegs get twisted and cut into webbing making it weak, I took them out and added a bit of paracord to attach the pegs. Also, the cordage that is supplies with the tarp is a bit weak and can be replaced with paracord.I will highly recommend this to anyone after the windstorm it survived through. Good stuff!
